Time Flies...........When You're Blogging!

Charlie Thigpen's Garden Gallery

THREE years ago I posted my first photograph on Birmingham Alabama Daily Photo.  At the time I was so green I had to email Rambling Round ( Selma Alabama Daily Photo) almost daily for help.  I started this blog as a way to keep myself out there taking photos in my retirement.  My momma always said, "Ignorance is bliss!"  Well it is, and perhaps if I'd known how much time and energy a daily photoblog really requires, I'd probably have chosen something like knitting as a way to while away my retirement. Lucky for me, I waltzed into blogworld full of blind enthusiasm, and I haven't looked back.  In November 2008, I was having so much fun, I created Paris Through My Lens  Now my days and nights are spent feeding two "babies" as Genie and I call our blogs. Actually I call mine "The Twins"!  It has been an amazing three years, and this blog has afforded me some incredible experiences, opportunities and friendships too numerous to name.  I thank those of you that visit ( almost a 1,000 a week!), that comment, that email me and introduce yourselves and those of you that I've been fortunate to meet in person.  But most of all,  I hope that I have made the people of Birmingham proud, because in the end, it's all about our Birmingham, isn't it!

Happy 3rd, ma chère amie! I am coming up on my 1st next month thanks to you, but the best part about it all is meeting and getting to know you, sweet friend. Wish I was going to be with you three for the champagne on Thursday but lift a toast for me also.

Thanks for help in "birthin' my baby!"

Bises,
Genie

I agree with your opinion. Blogging makes a retirement much more fun and to read all the other blogs is so interesting. Every day I make a tour through the world by looking at pictures of different countries. Go on for endless years with your blogs Virginia and make us enjoy ourselves.
Greetings, Marianne

You're charming and lovely, funny and talented, artistic and smart. I'm sure you'd be good at anything you tried, but somehow I can't picture you knitting.

Happy birthday to the baby.

Congrats on the 3 years - I check in every day even if it is quietly. It's nice to know that I am not the only one who has trouble figuring out a lot of the tech stuff about blogging.

Came via Daryl's blog and I can attest to the fact that it really does take a lot of time, especially with a photo blog. Here's to more good times with the twins.
