Ghoulishly Fascinating

Since Kate Middleton's wedding "fascinators" have taken the country by storm.  At The Lamb's Ear Ltd. in Crestline Village, even the ( sparkly) skeletons are looking a très chic.  Happy Halloween!

Party in the Lou

On a Shoestring Antiques
Bluff Park

My friends all know that watching/following baseball is about the last thing on earth I'd choose to do.  Well I heard a rumor that the St. Louis Cardinals were in the World Series and I understand they won it! Since my dear blog friend Bob Crowe ( St. Louis Daily Photo) is a die hard fan , I thought I'd post these well worn gloves ( mitt???)  in honor of his home team.  Now....back to Auburn football!

Autumn at Lake Martin - View From the Slough Part I

Today we take a little trip down Hwy. 280 to Coosa County.  Why you ask?  Well my friends and I gathered for a "Girls' Night on Lake Martin" on Thursday.  The weather was perfect, the food delicious, the company delightful and the photo ops were so plentiful I could hardly put my camera down long enough to refill my wine glass!

A Photographer's Delight-The Vivian Maier Exhibit

Kevin McCollister and Petrea Burchard admire a piece that they agreed was their favorite

One of the highlights of my trip to Los Angeles last week was the opportunity to join my fellow bloggers at Stephen Cohen Gallery and the see a small but powerful collection of street photographer Vivian Maier's remarkable work. Maier died at the age of 83 a virtual unknown.  In 2007, John Maloof bought a storage container almost sight unseen.   He then discovered the amazing contents.  Maier left over 3,000 prints, 100,000 negatives and approximately 800 rolls of undeveloped film.  Since that time, he has worked tirelessly to catalog and exhibit her work.  You will want to read more here.

Southern California Bloggers - The Cast of Character!

Karin Bugge

Today I have the pleasure of introducing you to the cast of (REAL) characters that I was so fortunate to spend time with  in Los Angeles this past week.  This trip we added two new members to our rowdy band of bloggers.  I hope you'll visit their blogs and say hello!

Southern California Sunset

As many of you know, I've been in Los Angeles for the past five days as the guest of my dear friend and blog reader Judy and her (very patient)  husband Dave.  They made it possible for me to come out a year ago,  and again this past week for more blog fun and frivolity.  I have more photos to share in the weeks to come of the Los Angeles area and my great blog friends, but today I share a magnificent view from their back deck overlooking the canyon.

I'm also including a photo of Judy with me at the Getty Museum. We met almost three years ago when she found my blog. We started emailing, chatting by phone and the rest is  history. A very dear and special friend made possible by blogging!

Gotta Spare?

This well kept vintage hmmm..........something, was on display at the Whistle Stop Festival in Irondale recently.  I'm sure some of my "car guys" can enlighten us as the make and year.  I just liked the two wheels with the white sidewall tires.

Super Skates

It's been a long time since I put on a pair of roller skates, but back in the day, I logged a lot of hours in my driveway trying to keep them on!  I'm thinking these with the closed toe might have been either before or after my time.  Maybe they didn't require as much time with that hateful skate key!
I found these at Charm on 2nd Avenue downtown.

California Dreaming

Another Southern California blogfest is on my horizon!  Stay tuned.

The Mamas and the Papas have this to say.

So Cal Blogfest 2010

I'll be busy visiting museums, exhibits and enjoying my time with this crowd and many more.  I appreciate your comments and will look forward to catching up when I return.

Giggles Guaranteed!

When photographing an almost two year old, sometimes you have to pull out all the stops...or in this case my grandkitty Kittikins.  She tolerated a few minutes of hugging and petting,  then as she prepared to split, she provided the best photo of the day!

Toot Your Own Horn

I photographed the Homewood High School Homecoming Parade on Thursday.  It was great to reconnect with old friends and to see some of my former third grade students who have grown up to become talented high school students now.  I have more images that will share in the days to come.

Business or Pleasure?

I love the Urban Standard on 2nd Avenue downtown.  Interesting people inside and out.  I'm always fascinated by the mix of those who come to enjoy the good food and conversation, and the others that find it a nice getaway for gettting some work done.

Peter Piper Picked a Peck of ....

perfect pumpkins!

I waited as long as I could for the first, but not the last of the pumpkin photographs this season.  They come in so many fascinating colors and shapes now, I'm snapping them right and left!

Tough Guy?

Not so much!  I spotted this sweet girl with her daddy at ArtWalk 2011.  When she's a teenager can't you just hear her saying, "DAD! I can't believe you're going to wear that hat. I'm humiliated!"  Or maybe she'll still know she has a VERY cool dad!

More Hoopla!

I had such fun watching this little cutie learning to hula hoop at the Whistle Stop Festival . I almost put down my camera and tried to see if I could still swing it, but thought better of it!

Vintage Camera....

vintage photographer!  I love What's on Second.  It has a plethora of collectibles and memorabilia. I love  Steve Gilmer and the nice ladies that work there. They just let me prowl around, take tags off, move things around, just about anything to satisfy my bossy photographer self!  I thought a vintage self portrait was in order!

Birmingham Rouge - Walk This Way

Photographers are a quirky breed. We see things in a different way for sure.  Last week as I queued up at the Greek Festival, these bright red stanchions in the afternoon sun caught me eye. Go figure.

The Greek Festival - Let The Dancing Continue

Last Friday's post was just the beginning.  I have so many photos from The Greek Festival, held at Holy Trinity- Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral,  that I decided to make this collage, so I could share more than one.  And there are more you know!

October Theme Day - Mystery Object

I don't know how mysterious you'll find this, but it's my City Daily Photo offering today.  I think there will be some unusual and very fun photos posted by CDP bloggers around the world. I hope you'll have a look.

Tomorrow I'll include the entire photograph along with my blog post. :)
