Behind The Scenes
Today is a busy day at my church, Independent Presbyterian Church. The talented and creative "flower ladies" and their willing helpers will transform our Sanctuary and Parlor with a bounty of white Easter flowers to celebrate this special day for Christians around the world.
This is one of my favorite photographs. Miss Dot arranged the flowers at IPC for decades. Now she gets to sit and enjoy all the activity. Here she's sharing her expertise with daughter-in-law Gina, as she creates an arrangement in the Parlor. We are so grateful for all the loving hands who work behind the scenes to make every service even more beautiful.

Here Comes the Bride
wearing her family's heirloom veil. I love my job assisting with weddings at Independent Presbyterian Church. Beautiful bride and groom, family veil, happiness all around.

Rock Your Party Hat!
When I moved from Birmingham Alabama Daily Photo to Birmingham Through My Lens, I warned you that I might be serving up whatever was on my photography "plate" at the time. Well today William and JD, the Birthday Boys, as they celebrated their big No. 1 ! I had the honor of photographing them when they were a few weeks old, and Christmas last year. Today it was party hats and cake!

Details
As the Pizitz Building undergoes its renovation, there remain some lovely details of this 93 year old building remain. These columns with their remarkable detail are reminders of days gone by when this was a bustling department store.

Start The Adventure in Reading
Oh many of you have learned about STAIR Birmingham from reading my blog these many years. Yesterday I made two STAIR site visits, Oliver Elementary and Avondale United Methodist Church, for photos. When I walked into the big hall at Avondale, from across the room I heard, "Hey Ms. Jones!". Considering I've been retired over 7 years, I was thrilled she recognized me. I taught her brother in third grade and he's a junior at Homewood High now, and she is a STAIR tutor. Filled my heart!
This student's tutor told me she is making terrific progress in her second language. I know how hard learning a new language is and so proud of this sweet girl.
