Singing the Blues

Saturday Night I had the pleasure of attending a concert right here in my neighborhood.  My friends the Izards, hosted  Malcolm Holcombe in their home as part of the Small Stages concerts. For a nominal fee  ( a portion of which goes to the host's favorite charity) you bring your own chair and beverage, and  get to enjoy a great evening of musical  entertainment. Malcolm Holcombe, a funky,  bluesy singer, was the featured musician.  I'll have to admit I was a little skeptical.  However, my blog friends Wayne and Bob have been trying to push me out of my musical "box" so I thought I'd give Malcolm a whirl.  Whooo eeeeee! He was something else!  I stayed to the bitter end and had some fun. Thanks to the Izards and Malcolm for helping me spread my musical wings.  I'll be at their next home concert for sure!

The top photo is very expressive. It's the decisive moment. I like the angles of the other photos ...
Very nice, V.

le ton donné au photos est superbe, et cela va bien avec le blues. J'adore la dernière photo, il fallait y penser
the tone given in photographs is superb, and it goes well with the blues. I love the last photograph, it was necessary to think of it

I would have gone, too. It's often on occasions like this that you hear some really good music and get some good shots like you did.
And he's cute, too....

Yes, me too: I like the last photograph very much. Such a telling portrait.

Virginia, So glad you came! And these photos are great! I especially like the one showing him rocking the chair.

The "rocking pictures" speak for themselves...

Isn't it nice to get out of ones boxes sometimes?

Great shots, especially the last one, but how do we get to listen to him? (signed: Ze Acorn).

I know Malcolm from my Nashville days, I think we were on the same bill a time or two way back when. One soulful guy to be sure. These are wonderful photos Virginia. The tilted forward chair image speaks volumes about his intensity as a performer - he takes no prisoners. House concerts are cool eh?

Looks like musicians have the day on our blogs. I also posted a wonderful guitarist.

He looks frighteningly like my brother-in-law, Melvin, but I got over that. I particularly like the middle photo, in which just details tell a whole story.

It's always rewarding to try something new and you got some great photos too. The first is good but that chair speaks volumes.

I'd have been there like a shot. The top one has captured the intensity of the perfomance and the second one is a perfect image for your hands series. Get out the box more. Its fun.
