Through the Doorway

This is yet another "couldn't leave without the photo" moment.  I was leaving Kevin Irwin's studio a few weeks ago,  and I was parked in front of Irwin Brothers' Remodeling, her husband's office space downstairs.  See for yourself the image that made me get out of my car and shoot some photos through the sidelights of the beautiful vintage doors. Oh, and the lady in the window?  Kevin tells me her grandmother made it.  The talent must run in the family!

pas facile a faire cette photo, avec si peu d'éclairage, j'aime beaucoup la tonalité

not easy to do this picture, with so little light, I love the tone

The doorway does look sentimental there

Very nice atmosphere. I do like your lièvre et la tortue on your new banner!

Glad you got out of your car for this one. So reminiscent of the Old World...I agree with the others about the atmosphere, difficulty of shooting.

Just found your blog and love it! Birmingham is one of my favorite cities. Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful photos. I'm looking forward to being a regular visitor here.

It has a Parisian feel, very soft muted light.I have been neglecting blog duties, work and St Patricks day to blame.

The space behind this venerable door invite me to invent stories, it's exalting my imagination. A mystical shot.

There is a great deal of mystery here - dark, candle-lit orange tones, Victorian decor. I expect Sherlock Holmes to arrive momentarily to explain it all.

Your header is wonderful, so whimsical. The light in the building is well, la sigh (so nice).
I looked at the fire station again tonight and I have to confess that I have come to expect certain subject matter on your blog and when the work is more practical I have to make adjustments. But, seeing it again today I can say the way the light falls, I think it's wonderful, especially the composition. Mix it up some more, I would like to see some hip shots, table shots and the like.

Well PJ that's a tall order! I'll see what I can do. It's a delicate balance we walk on these blogs. I am constantly torn between variety and what's expected of a city photo blog and what I appeals to me personally and what I am absolutely drawn to shoot. Ah the question for which I have no answer!

When you answer it let me know, in fact, let us all know. We'll blow the roof off this dump.

Hee hee, PJ.

I agree with Babooshka, we could be in the old Paris of our imaginations (at least of mine). Lovely shot.

I think you can shoot what you like. It is "Bad P" after all.

PJ,
Girl I don't need much encouragement to "act up" you know. Lord have mercy!

Petrea,
I"m slow but I got it! HA You're right you know. I'm a threat to be a rebel and there's enough of you out there to goad me into acting on it.
