Urban Silhouette

Let's just stay downtown. This is sunset photographed from Kevin Irwin's studio back porch on 2nd Avenue South.  I like silhouette shots and rarely can pull one off.  For one a power pole is a nice addition!

* Jump on over to our friend Peter's blog today.  Dusty Lens and I have the honor of being Peter's guest photographers today.

UPDATE ON LILLY
Her mom has a blog so you can keep up with her progress here.

I'm a sucker for sunsets/sunrises, too. Your silhouettes are beautiful. I really intend to go up to the top of our building and snap away one evening when there's a stunner sunset. Stay tuned!

We don't have a clear view of the setting or rising sun. It is through the trees and there are lots of them to see through. Nice shot you took.

This is well worth enlarging as it's a bit mysterious the way the trees are partly obscured but still can be seen. Nice to know Lilly is doing well, I love that name for a girl.

At the first glance you captured in combination the sun as power of nature and human electricity - what a gap.

Thank you for helping me fall in love with my hometown! You have really represented it so well here.
Guess who created a blog this weekend? Come over for a cup of tea and a little poetry.
Great news about Lilly.

Poppycock you have trouble. Smashing silhouette. Honestly it's just practise but this has the light and shade in all the right places. I'm feeling downtown needs an airing too this week. Far too much prettiness need some urban grit.

FireLight, I couldn't be more pleased. Your blog is something I'm looking forward to. You're the writer. I'm not!! Maybe a collaboration is in our future.

B,
Silhouettes are not my forte although I love them so much. Downtown??? Maybe more!!!

Jeurgen,
Welcome home but I'm sorry your visit with the Benedictines was cut short by your illness. Your photo was just lovely. I hope to see more from there.

Downtown is where its at, Virginia, downtown. Pretty colors, here. Oh, and it is an honor to be recognized on Peter's blog.

When you're alone
And life is making you lonely,
You can always go downtown
When you've got worries,
All the noise and the hurry
Seems to help, I know, downtown

Just listen to the music
of the traffic in the city
Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty
How can you lose?

The lights are much brighter there
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares and go
Downtown, things'll be great when you're
Downtown, no finer place for sure,
Downtown, everything's waiting for you
(Downtown)

Boxes and clouds, orange and black. Sunset in so many modern cities. The photo makes a universal point.

Bravo pour la photo du métro Varenne Virginia!
Your Saturday's stairway could have been one "métro" exit!
