I'll just bet you saw this photo and thought I had found a really neat church here in Birmingham. Actually this is The Cantina, Tortilla Grill, located on 2nd Avenue South in the Martin Biscuit Building at the Pepper Place. ( They have another location on Cahaba Valley Road) Pardon the pun, but this place is dripping with character! It's also a really great place to have some good Mexican food and a beverage. We sat inside last week because of the heat and humidity. I'm so glad we did. Look what I found!

V, I now have a real camera. I don't know how to use it yet, so I take it out and try stuff and occasionally get a good shot. But I always, always have my little purse-sized camera with me. ("Never leave home without your camera" indeed.)
I could use a Mexican beverage or two right about now.

Great ambience!!! I remember back in the late 60's early 70's, we used to send canned Ortega chiles and various different Mexican food goodies to my sister who lived in Louisville, Kentucky...At the time, she complained that the only Mexican food available in the south was Jack in the Box tacos!!! Looks like Mexican cuisine has made it's mark in the south!!! And yes, that's definitely the look we strove for with our Mateus bottles and candles...Very cool...

Love Cantina...and V, that wall is on the road that runs right below Vulcan on the dowtown side of the mountain. It's between 18th and 14th along that road and their are plenty of walls and little garages built into the mountain...check it out! Only you could do it real justice!
