Lest you think I spend all my time in bars and pubs, let me just tell you right now, that I took these photos of
Dave's Pub on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Well now that I've spotted these great wire chairs on the front patio (very French I think) , I might be a threat to drag some friends and actually go at night and taste one or two of their zillion fancy beers! I'll have to pass on the chic cigar offerings. Dave's has been in business for 13 years, which for a pub is probably something to crow about. It's located in Birmingham's trendy Five Points district in the vintage Court Towers. Then again, I might wait till the weather warms up, and we can enjoy sitting outside!

I love these chairs! beautiful texture.
I was thinking of doing the 100 strangers project starting in the new year. how has it been going for you? have you found it dificult?
Nice shot, and I always think of the wonderful imprints these chairs will leave on your, uh, derriere. Now THERE'S a photo for you! :<)
It sounds like we have to bring one's cushion... lol
Maybe it's quite comfortable but the angle and composition of the first shot suggest some form of torture to me, V. The second...don't you just love how worn that fitting is?
Funny, I would have guessed Paris.
Beautiful details. Love that chair!
Lily,
As I said, the Stranger Challenge has been great fun. You have to be prepared for some that don't want their photo taken but that is a given. I have met some great people along the way! Email me if you want more info, I'd love to help you get started. Julie in Sydney has done a marvelous job with it!
Virginia,
I always love your chair shots AND I'd like to go to Dave's (it is great fun) especially now that I got my smile back!
Perhaps these fabulous chairs are Dave's subtle attempt to keep his drinkers from getting too comfortable and staying long past their sobriety point...
Fabulous door V!!!
Happy Hour at Daves, lets go!
Cop to Virginia: Young lady, I saw you stumbling out of Dave's - and now you're trying to drive home?
Your eyes are too bloodshot!
Virginia to Cop: Well, (hic), ocifer, yor eyez look a leetle glazed. How many (hic) trips has yew made through th' drive-through at th' Krispy Kreme so far thiz (hic) shift?
Cop to Virginia: (sound of handcuffs clicking shut...)
I wouldn't immediately pick out the subject of the top picture as a chair if I didn't know the context. You made a nice abstract selection from the whole. The bottom one shows that, well, a lot of hands and feet have passed through this door.
I love the tarnish on the knocker. Gives an air of world-weariness, of gloves that sag at the tips and hems that don't quite stay ironed. A little Blanche-du-Bois.
I love the way you give up a snippet of a place that in fact gives us the essence of it - like a good short story.
