Nigel the Holiday Hound

All Leprechauns aren't tiny!

Meet my neighbor Nigel. Nigel's humans, Kathryn and Jonathan, live a few blocks away, and I met him practically "eye to eye" while having wine at their home a few weeks ago. Kathryn said they like to dress him up for special occasions, so I jumped on that one. Today Nigel and I would like to wish you all a Happy St. Patrick's Day. Party on!

Stay tuned, he could become a blog regular. Think "bunny ears".

Arf! Nigel is very tolerant (not to mention handsome). I tried reindeer antlers on Boz and he wouldn't have it.

Oh hounds are something else. This one is a beauty and not too OTT an outfit.

When I see a face like this I think not only of my two hounds, but in particular of William Wegman's photos of his Weimeraners. Google them if you don't know.

A lovely shot, Virginia. I love the way his eyes match the background door (well I think it's the door).

How is it possible for a dog to look noble... while wearing that outfit...

Must be something about being named Nigel.

I love this pooch, V.

Oh, that is too cute. So dignified. Am waiting for the bunny ears....

A great "portrait" and a dog with personality!;-)

Not all leprechauns are tiny, nor are they all green. All the dogs in the neighborhood must defer to this noble canine.

Looks like my date last St. Paddy's Day.

Nigel is one very good natured hound

One of the black Irish, I presume. Dogs are such natural clowns -- all except Boz, who is a scholar. (Confession, sometimes Pheebs wears dark glasses and jumps up and down when we say "Broadway Phoebe!")

Yes, Nigel the blog regular!

Will Nigel have green beer is his bowl today?

I'm glad you all got a kick out of Nigel. He never changed expressions the whole photo shoot although I was dying laughing the entire time!! Oh, he'll be back!

He's quite stoic in his Irish costume!

The best clowns keep a straight face, V.

Boz a scholar! He'll be pleased you said so, Karin. He really can be funny, during the 17 minutes per day when he's got his high energy on. I'll remember to call for "Broadway Phoebe" the next time I see your lovely and talented boxer.

Petrea, I told Hiker I had no idea Boz was "gifted" or that the Phoebster is Rockette material! :)

Maybe I'm a bit biased.

Real Irish do not wear such long faces on St. Patrick's Day. They are either grinning ear-to-ear or fighting.

He is adorable. I would like to see some bunny ears on him.

I like him, he looks like a perty hound, er, Dane!!

To be honest, with Phoebe you can say "Light Bulb" or "Paper Towel" and she'll jump up and down.

Virginia said...

Hiker,
Yeah, I know the type. A bit foolish, is she?? :)

Bob,
I think Nigel is the st rong silent type. A lover not a fighter!

Extra cute, V. But are you trying to say that on St. Pat's Day, Birmingham goes to the dogs?

I agree about Boz. THat's one deep thinking pooch. I think he's one of the great minds of our time. You can just see it in those soulful eyes. ;-)

I've yet to meet Phoebe. I can tell I'll be mad about her.

My Misty and Molly aren't scholars or rockettes, nor will they let me dress them up and photograph them. Sigh.

Petrea Burchard said...

Laurie, Phoebe will be mad about you, too.

Nigel seems to be patiently compliant with the "dress-up" game silly humans want to play. Rest assured he is definitely looking down his nose at us, however.

Good looking pooch! Don't subject the poor boy to bunny ears humiliation, though. That would be going a bit too far! LOL!!

V, Nigel is definetly a keeper. Can't wait for the bunny ears.....I'll bet he'll be excited too. Can't leave my Annie out - she's a cute white and black mutte - she'd like him too but she's happy to just run and sleep.

i find this dog very human ;)

I agree Chuck...Nigel is definitely being patient with the human dress up game...he hides his mortification well!!!!

I can't stop giggling. That is too funny!

Great dog photo! Wow he has a handsome but saggy face! Ruff! Happy belated St. Patrick's Day, V! That's our oldest daughter's 10th birthday!

He does look quite Irish, doesn't he? I'm looking forward to the next shot!
