Sunday Church Series - Cathedral Church of the Advent

One of my favorite downtown churches, the Cathedral Church of the Advent located on 20th Street, is even more beautiful against the neighboring "glass boxes" of Birmingham's financial district.  Founded in 1873, this church is a testament to the rich history of Birmingham.

Viva le difference. I'll take arches and stone any day.

The church has Advent all year round.

It must be a beautiful church, judging from the detail you post here Virginia.

A beautiful viewport. Love the carving and the stone with that modern building in the distance.

The church looks like it is a beautiful building. Luckily your town believes in preservation. From what I can see it looks like it is well taken care of.

Nice contrast, not just in the architecture but in the light, color and atmosphere.

That is a lovely juxtaposition of architectural types, Virginia. Once again, your wonderful artistic eye does you proud!

I love this contrast of old and new. Similar architecture to Sydney's in Australia. Great composition.
