For Abe

I've met the greatest people through my blog. One very special friend is fellow blogger Abe Lincoln (Brookville, OH Daily Photo). YES, that is his name!  Abe is a fine photographer ( and storyteller) and I think his nature photography is his strong suit.  Abe and I agree on everything but squirrels. He loves them and FEEDS them.  I ....well just don't ask.  Yesterday after a much needed rainstorm, the sun came out and right outside my sunroom window I spotted this cardinal trying to dry off.  Lucky for me I eyed it before Meeps scared it off,  and I was able to sneak up and take a few shots through the wet window.  I am pretty proud of my first bird photo. I hope my dear Abe agrees.

What a beautiful bird, Virgiia. Abe will love it I'm sure. You are so right, he is a wonderful bird and wildlife photographer.

The only birds I get close enough to photograph are the coal tits and bluetits that feed on my terrace. Nothing as wondrous as your red bird.

You got there just in time for this fabulous shot! And it's an unusual photo of a cardinal... and that's a good thing.

Bon weekend. :)

Such a beautiful bird, it's amazing to see something like that in the wild, I only ever see dull sparrows!

I'm sure President Abe will enjoy your photo! That cardinal was really showing of his feathers! Cocky!

Birds are so hard to picture. This one is marvellous, you were at the right place at the right moment! I'm sure Abe will appreciate!

Yes, I do appreciate this photograph. I have never seen a Cardinal spread his feathers to speed up the drying-off process. I have seen much larger birds, like Coopers Hawks do it. They get so soaked sometimes that they weigh so much they can't fly very far. They not only get soaked in rain but the hawks go inside every boxwood bush I got to flush out smaller birds and going in they get wet and coming out they get wetter.

This is a marvelous photo. And the cardinal is none to happy about his appearance. He has his crest down. LOL That is like being caught with your false teeth out.

http://mybirdsblog.blogspot.com/ is where my bird photos are located if you want to see some of my bird photography.

Thank you, Virginia, for being kind enough to post this kind of tribute to me and my work. It is appreciated, very much.

You haven't caught him in his usual pristine shape - I am sure he won't be happy that we are all seeing him like this!

Fantastic, Virginia. I see cardinals all the time, but this fanning is new to me. Nice shot.

Very cool shot Virginia!
I love spotting interesting birds but I rarely have a camera with me when I do.

Great image! I have lots of cardinals in my backyard, but I am not fast enough, patient enough, or talented enough for such a photo!
Love the spreading feathers!!
