Nature's Fury

Altamont Road

The day after the horrific tornadoes ripped through Alabama, I spotted this piece of metal imbedded in a tree only blocks from my home.  Since our neighborhood was very fortunate in that there were no injuries and compared to other places, very few loss of trees, this confused me.  On one hand, I think surely I would have noticed this before if it's from a previous storm and on the other hand, I wonder if perhaps this was a result of the previous day's high winds. I am hoping someone else that lives in the Forest Park neighborhood and clear this up. Regardless, this was definitely caused by a very high and powerful wind.  Sobering.

Really odd and not romantic at all!

Gives me the shivers just thinking about the harm that metal piece could have done! Take care.

Bon weekend from Montreal.

A piercing reality, indeed. In this image we see the fragility of trees...what are humans compared to that?

Glad you were spared, and I'd think this was likely from the tornado.

Sooo...to the age old question of "Would you rather live in Tornado alley or earthquake territory?"...I'll choose earthquake territory every time...except Japan..think I'll stick to California!!!

Having lived through tornadoes and hurricanes, I can say that I have a very, very healthy respect for Mother Nature. Nice capture.

OMG! What a find, V.! Amazing and truly scary at the same time. When natures gets angry there's not much we can do. Look at the poor people in Christchurch, New Zeland, going through earthquakes again! As if it was not enough having the ash cloud from the volcano in Chile above them...
