I heard someone on NPR tonight say that we should distinguish appreciation for the young men and women who served and skepticism toward the old men who sent them into the shadow of the valley of death. Point well taken.
I have lived in Birmingham most of my life. I think it's a beautiful, friendly, and interesting place to live. I hope that my daily photographs portray the diversity of my hometown in a positive and artistic way.
I am a former elementary school teacher, a full-time photographer, part-time painter, lover of all things French ( whose français is slowly improving), obsessive Paris traveler, enthusiastic art museum volunteer, grateful community volunteer, and grandmother to 5 delightful grandchildren.

Very moving. Lovely job, Virg.
Thank you for remembering Veteran's Day... they all deserve our recognition for their duty, valor and sacrifice.
