The Potter's Hands

Last month I visited Cahaba Clayworks and photographed Earthborn Pottery's Nabeel working his magic at the potter's wheel.  Today another look.

It's in the hands, for sure. Very nice capture of an artist at work.

Virginia, that's brilliant. The hand barely looks human, perhaps beyond human.

O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay in the potter's hand, so are ye in My hand, O house of Israel.

~Jeremiah 18: 6

And the most famous piyut on Yom Kippur is "Like Clay in the Hands of the Potter"--

Like the clay in the hand of the potter-
he expands it at will and contracts it at will-
so are we in Your hand, O Preserver of kindness,
look at the covenant and ignore the Accuser.
. . .

Virginia, if the prayer book had illustrations, your photo could be one.

Dina,
Thank you for these. I looked for a quote and couldn't find anything I liked. These are perfect!

That shot makes me feel like I'm right there in the room with the potter.
