Color Explosion

These lovely  flowers are by glass artist Dale Chihuly.  They are a spectacular burst of color as you enter the lobby of the Birmingham Museum of Art.

No doubt about who made this glasswork. What I like about this picture is the strong color contrast. Chihuly's work ofter doesn't have it except in small details. That blue against the yellow-orange really pops out.

I have never heard of the artist but do know good glass and designs when I see them.. great subject for the camera.. I am real enjoying my visits to your Birmingham.

What you don't see in the photo is the acrobatics that were involved in photographing these beauties that were mounted above a staircase!! There were also some annoying air vents that called for severe cropping issues. Glad you liked the final product.

... and congratulations on the acrobatics. The cropping works beautifully.
