Au Revoir for Now

Ahhh it's time for us to leave.  I hope you have happy memories of our little visit to France in the South.  But don't worry, there will be tastes of Euro Birmingham in weeks to come.   The top photo gives another view of the outdoor dining and boules area at Chez Fonfon.  And at last, the dessert I promised... Chocolate Caramel Nut Tarte.  Delicieux!

The Tune du Jour is a vintage version of "Verlaine" by Charles Verlaine.

The top one is SO beautiful. And the tarte makes my mouth water. Now I need to go out and buy one that probably isn't 1/2 as good as yours.

Super cette belle tarte ... doux à l'oreille Charles Trenet... Enzo Enzo j'adore ... et Louis Amstrong je n'en parle pas ... un rêve.

What a wonderful tour you've given us. Another beautiful set of photos of special places - such rich soothing browns & creams. Your waiter seems a natural at boule. My grandmother loved playing a "peasant's" version - find a round rock & 3 flat rocks per person & you've got yourself a game anywhere. She'd rope all those around her into a game.

Hey! Your music reminds me of Kevin Kline singing on the "French Kiss" soundtrack! The photography is, of course, beautiful. Very classy.

MMM mmm ... just 21 more sleeps and three of us fly to Europe for a month: week in London; 2 weeks in Provence; week in Paris.

You are speaking to the converted! The ambience, as I type, is adorable: images, music. Wonderful, Virginia. Just wonderful ...

Oh Uselaine, I love that soundtrack too. Louis Armstrong on yesterday's post was from that one. Deezer doesn't have the whole soundtrack but I have been able to run down a few songs.

Glad you have all enjoyed our little trip to Paris!

Julie, ooops, there goes my French Envy again. Will you post while you are gone???

The tarte looks yummy yum-yum!!

I love pecans with caramel and a little shortbread cookie. This is perfect for me.

La vie en rose, indeed. Sometimes I think that we have la vie en gris around here, but it's really not that bad. Off to shoot at the Hispanic Festival in a bit, which will be full of color.

I just added someone's post-political convention analysis to my blog post for today.

But I don't want to say Au Revoir to your wonderful Euro Birmingham photos, especially now that you've offered up that amazing looking Nut Tarte! Mais hélas, you have lots more to show us so I'll accept it. Now I must go to the local French bakery and get myself a treat!

I love the colors in this. I don't know how you manage it, but you have a way with lighting, madame.

I like the idylic look of this photo, V. Looks French indeed.

When I saw the title of your post today on my blogroll, I thought you were leaving for somewhere and that you were taking a break.... :)

About the question you left on my City Square post: Yes, some people buy and do eat the food from the street vendors. I'd rather not though and would not suggest anybody try it for obvious reason of hygine. Unless our body is used to them (and has developed some sort immunity), it's not something to try.

Virginia,I agree with Katie. My mouth is watering for one of those tartes! And the music is tres bon! I could dig on that all night. Merci! Bon weekend!

Oh my! That is one gum-slamming good looking tarte!

"Louis" enjoyed his tour of France Sud.

Au revoir, y'all!

Virginia said...

Louis,
We would like to order some cafe au lait. Where's your girlfriend???

Louis la Vache said...

Ah, yes! Café-au-lait! "Louis" ordered the bowls this very day for them from B.I.A.-Cordon Bleu!

"Louis" won't let Mme la Vache know you asked about a girlfriend! "Louis's" QUITE devoted to Mme la Vache and doesn't let his eye wander around the pasture...She's the best thing that's ever happened to "Louis!"

Beautiful! I am allergic to nuts, so none of that tarte for me. Maybe a fondant au chocolat? :)
