Fond Memories

Doesn't everyone dream of visiting a place called "Museum of Fond Memories "?   I haven't  gotten inside yet, but the windows are so intriguing I can hardly wait.  It's on my To Do list this week, I promise.    For now, this window has more than enough eye candy to keep us busy.

The Tune du Jour is a request from my friend Jay Gilbert in Cincinnati.  Jay is a DJ at WEBN, a rock station.  Rock... not rock 'n roll.  Well somebody's gotta do it!  Jay also is the creator and star of Uncle Jay Explains the News.  You will definitely want to tune in each week for his latest episode.   "Young at Heart" by Frank Sinatra is Jay's pick today.  A fond memory indeed. Thank goodness it wasn't something that made my head hurt.
( "I am Uncle Jay , and I approved this message." )

The Museum of Fond Memories sounds like something out of a dream, or a novel by a magical realist like Marquez.

I LOVE the photo. Though what kind of a masochist has fond memories of a clown? (Clowns... shudder...)

Great Frankie tune, too. And thanks for the link!

My son is in your area today. I had mommy anxiety when he was driving up last night.
Now you've given me another place to visit on my grand tour. Wonderful, but I'm leaving my debit card in the car.

that is so cool!
this photo has so many layers and reflections that it starts to take on this dream like quality where every fond memory of mine is superimposed upon the other in my mind. brilliant :) the composition matches the matter just so perfectly!!!
tell me what it's like when you step in... it reminds me of this place here in sf called musee mecanique (i'll let you translate that one, frenchy... though not a hard one, i admit) and its a private collection full of old arcade games and coin slots and music boxes and dioramas and the sort. check it out here: http://www.museemechanique.org/

see you tomorrow :)

what a great place. Like you, I'd want to be in there like a shot, too.

A collage is easy, Virginia. Do you use Picasa? If not download it immediately - it's a free downloand.

Select 4 photos - and then click on Collage. There are several differnt types of collage you can make. Easy peasy.

I am very much looking forward to your visit to this store, Virginia. As the memory lengthens, the memories become fonder.

What an interesting concept in perspective. One person's fond memory may be another person's reason to visit their therapist. The reflections in the window speak to me of how memories can be layered on top of others. Or that I'm over-caffienated again. I think Proust should have added this to In Search of Lost Time. :-)

Merci mille fois pour "le plug" de UJ - I heard him humming "Ginny, Ginny, Ginny*, won't you come along with me!"
Rock-On Sister,
M
*PS - yeah he knows that it's really Jenny, Jenny, Jenny - but he took creative license.

Quite interesting!

To answer your question about Corky's ribs at the Jazz Festival. . .No, sorry. There was a BBQ vendor, but I forget who it was. Corn on the cob and Sno Cones were the big hits.

I'm sure you'll find many treasures in this place!
I've added a link about these standing stones in Carnac, in French but with many photos.

It looks like a neat bookshop. Can't wait to see more of it later in the week!

We lived in Cincinnati for several years prior to moving to B'ham. WEBN is a LEGENDARY radio station and we loved the annual Labor Day fireworks. My husband still listens to their webcasts (podcasts, whatever you call 'em) every chance he gets!

Rock not rock and roll? Where does that leave KISS?

Valerie, I heard all about the fireworks display. Jay did the broadcast if I am not mistaken. I tried to listen to Jay's radio show one day. I made it for about 15 minutes then I had to give it up! Be sure to check out Uncle Jay Explains.

Kris, You got me! HA

Update: I just got home from the Museum of Fond Memories/Reed Books. Wish I could have taken all of you with your cameras. A photographer's buffet!!

Jay if you're out there, the check IS in the mail right??

Nice shot. Can't wait for your visit inside! Although clowns--certain clowns anyway--are sort of, what's the word? Tawdry? Is that it? They always scared me a little.

I've with KVG.Therapy. I'm all for the tour, but no clowns or dolls. Really they give be the hee bee gee bees. Enough of my gibbering. This place will be a treat. I'll take Batman though menacing as he is in this
perculiar image.

INside, not so many clowns. Not to worry.

How can anyone not want to take a peek inside the store with a name and window display like that?
