Ho, Ho, HUH???

I see you rubbing your eyes and doing a double take.  I did the same thing.  Yes, it's September 16th and a very popular shop in the area has had a Christmas tree, decorations, and assorted party goods for sale for weeks.   The last time I checked, Christmas came AFTER Thanksgiving around here, not BEFORE Halloween.  I don't know how you feel, but I think Christmas in September is just plain wrong.  Bah humbug!

There will be no further mention of Christmas until December 1st- period!

The Tune du Jour is NOT a Christmas song,  it's "Minor Swing" by Romane - a catchy instrumental with no suggestion of jingling bells, snow or the man in the red suit.  You might have to give the Deezer a minute to "warm up" today. Seems a bit sluggish.

Don't worry, Virginia, you have just to plan another trip just for some days in Britanny, next spring will be perfect!
And I want to wish you (just in time!) an Happy Easter ;-)

Bonjour ..

I totally agree with you but those decorations make a very pretty photo:))

Font-ils du bruit ?

yes, Hobby Lobby (or its ilk; I can never remember) was adrift in Christmas things a few weeks ago.

These remind me of old-timey Christmas decorations like the ones we had when I was little. But no, I'm not nearly in the Christmas shopping mood yet!

I agree! Christmas in the summer is just wrong!!!! But it does make for a great photo!!!

Whilst you are up on Babooshka's soap-box let me toss you one of my pet whinges.: no sooner does the weather warm up than winter clothes come into the shops!

Love this swing guitar by Romane whom I confess to not knowing. Reminiscent of Django Reinhardt though.

Ugh! I hate it that stores put "seasonal" items out so far ahead of the "season". We already had Halloween stuff out in July!

I love the winter holidays, but I do agree we shouldn't be pressured to buy things until November at least!

Christmas in September? Where's the snow? Where would Santa land his sledge? ;)

Very colorful, V!

Who said soapbox? Let me up on it. I deplore this, not the image, it's pidddddy, it's the christmas in sept scenario. Jeeze we've not even had Halloween, it's Autumn, does anyone remember 9/11 was last week. It'll be easter eggs next week and bikinis. Ooh calm down dear! I shall listen to the soothing tune and think autumn leaves. Ohm!

Christmas never goes away in some places. I noticed those cheapy iceicles hanging around the evespout of some homes are now left up all summer. Talk about super tacky and trashy.

Anyway, I was on Mention, Jilly's place where she has the squirrel and read your comment about squirrels. I couldn't just pass by without asking you to take a look at Dances on Sunshine where I have published a squirrel story that might make you change your mind.

I agree! I like the title of the post, cute!
I do start to feel festive right before Thanksgiving and start a little bit of decorating and can't help but tear out the Christmas music, but definately, never, ever, before Halloween!

These are beautiful ornaments, BUT who wants to see them now? Shame on stores that start Christmas in September!!! I agree with you, and that's one thing I like about living here; Christmas (here celebrated two weeks later than "ours" on January 7th) is strictly what it should be--family, quiet celebration. New Year's is another story, and that's when people exchange gifts here, but it's still not overly commercial. Humbug.

fantastic colors

I'm not surprised at all, unfortunatly! Shops here have started with decs and gifts. I think its wrong to start it so early. November would be quite soon enough, but sadly, its all to do with money. And this year the shops are going to be desperately trying to get hold of our cash.

Nice photo but there should be a law against it:)

The red & green is very pretty, though much too soon to display Christmas decorations. It's still Summer!

Kris McCracken said...

Have they got the Easter eggs out already too? ;)

Janet Kincaid said...

There ought to be a law that Christmas stuff can't go up until after Halloween. The worst is Hallmark. They start marketing and selling their Christmas ornament line in JUNE! JUNE!! How wrong is that?!

Virginia said...

Maybe our collective voices will be heard!

Tash said...

They certainly are very pretty! It wouldn't be bad if they pop up every so often (like today on your blog), it's that they are around sooooo long that's a drag.

All I can say is rabid comercialism. OK, I had my rant. Despite this unessesary display at this time of year, you captured it perfectly. Great colors and love this angle you shot this photo.

DL,
I just happened to have my Fuji point and shoot in my purse. I am still not comfortable with shooting incognito! I am leary of being bounced out on my ear-ha.

Kris, yes this store will have a whole section of Easter basket paraphernalia out before the last bell has jingled.

DC, I knew I could get your feathers ruffled over this one!HA

Too soon! But there is holiday "stuff" creeping into about every store I have been too. I saw Christmas cards for sale the other day, and I felt suddenly stressed.

Why are we all in such a hurry these days?

Ming the Merciless said...

My local neighborhood CVS and RiteAid started selling Halloween candies two weeks ago. I had to do a double take too.

But no, no Christmas ornaments yet. That would freak me out.

MIng, You probably bought a cart load and started in on it!
