Meet Lila Graves!

I have been a huge fan of Lila's wonderful artwork for years! I finally met her in person last night at Monty Stabler Gallery in Homewood. Lila hails from Alexander City, Alabama (Alex City to the locals) and was in town for a reception and exhibit of her paintings and the dearest ceramic nativity figures. Her inspirational book, White Wings, chronicles her miraculous journey as a cancer survivor through photographs, artwork and verse. Yet another Alabama artist I have been fortunate to meet and photograph!

Go visit her website !

What a lovely person she is, such an open beautiful face. I love her work and thanks for the website. That first painting is really so strong - I loved Olivier's comment - she is standing is just the right place!

Funny, I could not get into the website; I'll try again later because I'd like to see more of her work. Picture of courage!! And, I'm going to try to find her book on Amazon, altho I still prefer to buy books from independent bookstores.

Well, that certainly hits home today - my oldest friend was found to have pancreatic cancer. This artist is full of charm. Her face and painting glow with exuberance. Putting the artist next to her work makes for a nice portrait.

She is lovely and the paintings are really splendid. What a blessing to have her as a surviver and so sad that she had to battle cancer esp. so young.

Her work is excellent. I can see why you'd be a fan of both the artist and the woman.
