Cool Cats and Hot Dogs - Do Dah Day 2010

Where do I begin with this one? I'll admit that this was my first Do Dah Day Parade and it was something else! I found a spot in the median on Highland Avenue and had a front row seat for the oncoming parade traffic. Today a few offerings but there will be more, I can assure you!

So glad Birmingham has a Do Dah Day! Every town should have one.

Oh my gosh - this would be perfect for Annie! At first I thought she had gone without me. Love these sweet creatures that let someone dress them up.

Puppy #2 is brilliant. Love the expressions you caught -- dogs are such hams.

I don't know, Hiker. Do you think Phoebe and Albert would wear costumes? Boz wouldn't stand for it.

Haha! Great stuff.

So sorry I missed this! Looks like great fun!

Petrea you're right, Boz would rather snooze on his bed.The Phoebster on the other hand would be dressed to the hilt and Albert might be in drag. Who knows.

Kathi,
I won't miss it again! It was a hoot.

Lori,
I thought the same thing but they all looked fairly complacent but HOT!

Earl,
My CT book won't be dogs. You know what it will be! :)

Judy,
I'n not sure ANnie will go for it!

Why is it called the Do Dah Day Parade? Everyone goes Do Dah Day when these cute little critters come by all dolled up?

Our Golden would love this but would want to stop at every person so she could be petted!

Actually, V, I'm afraid to ask.

Simultaneously hilarious and sweet!

I included a link to this post in my May 16th post on my own blog.

No. 2 is a real one ... bawler dog?

This is crazy. Dogs aren't people. People are people. Yet another aspect of American culture I don't understand, and splendidly photographed.

P: I’m sure they will after their work out!

Boz is another problem.

What's going to happen when those dogs seek revenge?

B Squared: There is a radio personality named Phil Hendry who does this hysterical show involving fake guests. He does all the voices. Took me a few months to figure out what was going on. The guest usually has a premise that gets crazier as the hour segment proceeds. One time he did a segment on the reasons that dogs sometimes attack and harm humans. The guest expert's view was that dogs attack because they are angry and embarrassed at having to wear clothes.

Hi, Rhymeswithplague gave you a mention so I popped over here to see the photos of the Do Dah Day Parade. That labrador is just hilarious. I'm torn between feeling sorry for the dog and laughing out loud.
Okay: LOL

Oh my goodness, look what I've been missing. These are fabulous, Virginia. So wish I'd been there too. Great shots of great dogs. Looks like they are happy dressing up.

These are so sweet! That top pup looks like my childhood fox terrier, Burgie, and is very photogenic!
Do Dah Day definitely brought out the spirit in the community.
