What I do know is that the McWane Center is a terrific place for kids of all ages. Four floors of interactive science exhibits, plus an IMAX theatre. There's always something new to see and do. My grandchildren never tire of it. It's a wonderful addition to the downtown Birmingham area.

I read the title of this post and immediately my brain filled in the missing word...great balls of ...fire! I can't get my mind off how hot it is outside.
At a rough guess, I'd say it was Paleoproterozoic metamorphic rock, with a distinct katabatic influence and probably caused by variations - perhaps even anomalies - in the geode

When I looked at the thumbnail I thought they were cantaloupes. But it could be worn billiard balls, a model of the solar system, an illustration of gravitational lensing or a geometry lesson. Cool shot in all events.
