A Day Late....

and a Moon Pie short!  I was a little under the weather this week and let Fat Tuesday get away from me. I had these fabulous masks from Dinah Toro's Charlotte Woodson Antiques in Mt. Brook, so we'll just celebrate Mardi Gras right here today.  By the way, did you know that Mobile, Alabama has the oldest  MardiGras carnival celebration in the country??

Gorgeous shot Virginia! Beautiful masks. I hope you feel better soon. And, yes I did. My dad lives in Mobile and I did celebrate couple of Mardi Gras there.

Well...Who'd a thunk Alabama had the first Mardi Gras celebration in the country!!! I'm still astounded (saw that bit of news on Genie's blog yesterday too and was totally flummoxed!!!) Just how did New Orleans get all the credit???

Hope you're feeling better Ms V!!! And LOVE the masks!!!

I didn't know about Mobile and Mardi Gras, but these little known facts no longer surprise me. As a born and bred Bostonian and former New Yorker, I discovered that Savannah's St. Patrick Day Parade is larger than New York or Boston's - after I moved to Georgia. Love the masks. Do you have a ball gown to match any of them? Hope you're feeling better.

Let's test your knowledge (and my ignorance) of MardiGras. Where did the name fat Tuesday come from??
