Birmingham Reads Day!!

As I have said many times......... I LOVE THIS "JOB"!!!  Yesterday I was asked to photograph Birmingham Reads at Whatley Elementary.  Birmingham Reads Day is sponsored by the Literacy Council, The Children's Literacy Guild, Better Basics, and the Junior League of Birmingham. On this very special day, 775 guest readers volunteered their time to read in every elementary classroom in Birmingham City Schools!  As a former elementary teacher this was right up my alley.  Today meet Birmingham Mayor William Bell who thrilled this room of eager students as their guest reader. More to come!

Hope he's not doing a "GWB" and holding it upside down...

How'd it feel being back in school? Thanks Mayor Bell.

Anything that inspires students to read, instead of seeing it as labor-some is sure to help them in their education

The Chief likes to go to local elementary school and read the Cat in the Hat to them...did it in SoPas, don't know if he's done it here yet!!!

Definitely a nice image V!!! And how cool that you were asked to photograph this fun event!!!
