From Grander Days

This architectural detail was on display at the Lyric Theatre on Sunday.  Our congregation was treated to a tour of this historic old theater after our service at the Alabama Theater on Easter Sunday.  It holds special meaning for the Independent Presbyterian Church members as our church founder, Dr. Henry Edmonds held services here on Sunday evenings preaching to those living in downtown Birmingham. His firm belief in reaching out to the community continues today.

The Lyric Theater is currently under renovation, although lack of funding has slowed the project.  I photographed here several years ago and posted photos here and here and here.

Are you ok? PJ alerted us to the tornado.

Yes, we're all fine. It's been an hellacious two days for our area. Thank you all for your concern.

Project 27, do you live near here? Thanks for your comment.

We are safe and the storms have passed. Pray for those in many places here in Alabama and the SE that are devastated!

What a nice, unique capture. Btw, I really like your new banner. Your banners always look so nice! I just changed my template and my banner photo is ridiculously ginormous. Any suggestions on how to reduce it to a "normal" size would be greatly appreciated!

Interesting illustration of an interesting face. I'm having a hard time reading the expression. It looks like it's wearing a hard cervical collar, stoically undergoing a medical procedure.

I'm so glad to hear that the tornado missed you and you are safe. You and I and some of our colleagues should get tee shirts that say "The Tornado Missed Me."

Glad you're okay, V. That storm looked awful and I'm so sorry for those who were in its path.

I'm listening to the news report while I blog, over 40 people dead, over a hundred injured so far. Such a calm countenance is much appreciated.

Glad to see that everything is back to "normal" in your town... and sorry for those who suffer right now in your state.
