The smaller crosses will be worn by the children
Paula shares the art of palm folding for Melissa |
Friday I watched the ladies of Independent Presbyterian Church prepare the palm crosses that we will all wear this day. There is a core of highly skilled ladies and they are happy to share their talents with newcomers. It's a well oiled "machine" and fueled by coffee, brownies and Betty's fabulous homemade pimento cheese sandwiches. Oh, and did I mention how much laughing and talking goes on in the process? I took my photos then served as a trusty "cross counter" In a little over an hour, 1,000 palm crosses had been lovingly made, sealed in bags with a wet paper towel and refrigerated for Sunday services. The tradition continues.

So nice.
Palm Sunday blessings to you all.
Good morning Virginia.
Palm Sunday today, and thank you for reminding us.
One week from Easter.
And we have the same tradition here.
Those crosses, are handed out by the priest to all who attend the mass at the end of it.
Have a great Sunday.

Nice! very , very nice...
C'est une tradition ou coutume que je découvre ici et elle est très belle.
Virginia, you are the princess of light. That top photo is luscious.
I wonder how old this tradition is.
Sounds sort of like a quilting bee. I love this tradition.
This is beautiful Virginia.
What a fun and meaningful tradition! I didn't realize how "crafty" were are, V!
Happy Palm Sunday!
With or without the religious symbolism, that is beautifully composed. The dramatic light, the water droplets...
Dina, I always appreciate your warm wishes for my religious holidays sent from your Jerusalem. We share a love of this region. How nice that we can embrace each other's beliefs.
Thank you,
V
Love these. They're everywhere in many parts of LA.
We also use palms here in south of France.
These look so perfect compared to the one I did for the kid's bedroom....
Yes indeed to your comment!
