As so many of you know, tornadoes and high winds have ripped through our area here in Birmingham for the last two days. Much devastation, downed trees, loss of power but more importantly, loss of precious lives. Yesterday afternoon, before the storm hit Birmingham for the second time in 24 hours, I shot this from a friend's deck facing north. Shortly, another tornado hit parts of Birmingham. We can only pray....

Stay save, Virginia.
Time for us southern Californians to stock up on earthquake supplies.
Oi, so are you OK now??
What is going on with the aggressive weather in the South lately??
Even my beloved Heifer Ranch near Perryville AR was badly damaged by a tornado.
Praying for y'all's safety, Virginia, and an end to this weather terror.

Stay safe. You are in my thoughts.
The weathers gone crazy ...
Oh, my! There is just no getting around the power of nature. Scary stuff!!
Praying you remain safe, V.
I was so worried about you. I remember tornadoes from my days in the midwest -- so fast and random. One house can be destroyed and the one across the street untouched.
Keep us supplied with updates. You'll be in my thoughts all day.
It used to be that people were upset because there weren't any sirens. Now they have them and people still can't get to safety in time. They're going to have to completely rethink the emergency response but what I can't figure out is where would someone go in advance? I guess you just stay in your home and hope for the best.
Glad that you are safe - I thought of you last night when I heard the news. Be strong.
Stay safe!!
I think I prefer earthquakes...

Hope all is well. Al hit hard. Amazing images and videos.
I was stunned when I saw the footage on the news. It sounds like there was one twister after another. My family survived a tornado in Michigan when I was young --- very scary. Amazing you took this shot. Glad you're okay.
A devastating, yet historic photo, Virginia. So glad you are safe and so sorry for all the loss of life and property.
Hi Virginia, I've just heard on the news how many people lost their lives in what is proving to be the worst tornado season in American history. My heart goes out to everyone who has suffered through this. Please stay safe. We're up here in Virginia.
Relieved to find you here.
So sad.. the terrible terrible storms.
We ran the marathon/half marathon races in your beautiful city.. sponsored by the friendly good people of Birmingham... in 2009.
You will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.
Survivor. Thank heavens.
Our television is full of this tragedy. That's one hell of a photo. Am so very sorry for the loss of life. Glad you are OK, of course, dear Virginia.
Stay safe
So sorry to see your news on TV. Be strong, Alabama.
Yes, this is so sad! So many tornados in such a short period of time, it's truly awful.
Just back from 2 weeks vacation away, I hadn't heard about the tornadoes in your area. Glad to know you and your dear ones are safe. Really sorry for those who have lost their homes or their lives.
Man is very small in the face of nature's might.
