I pulled off the highway near Harpersville a few weeks ago to photograph this cotton field, but it had already been picked. So all I have for you today is leftovers.
Next year I'd love you to do a report on cotton plantations - how the cotton grows, the maturation, the picking, the whole life cycle. We dont grow it here.
I have lived in Birmingham most of my life. I think it's a beautiful, friendly, and interesting place to live. I hope that my daily photographs portray the diversity of my hometown in a positive and artistic way.
I am a former elementary school teacher, a full-time photographer, part-time painter, lover of all things French ( whose français is slowly improving), obsessive Paris traveler, enthusiastic art museum volunteer, grateful community volunteer, and grandmother to 5 delightful grandchildren.

I sure do like this photo.
Oh, but it looks so beautiful. I think I have never actually seen a cotton field!
I like the color of these cotton fields in the landscape when driving.
There's always next year for a follow-up photo!
It makes for a great photo.
some of us prefer leftovers.
I've never seen a cotton field in person. Picked or not, it's wonderful!
Love it
Love it Virginia!

How fascinating. Never seen a cotton field. Looks like they left lots behind tho. What happens to it?
