The Pillarsgospel sextet has been singing together for a long time. Four of the six are original members. They will be appearing again this year in the amphitheater at Avondale Park next Saturday as a part of Art in Avondale Park.
It is impressive how popular gospel music is in Europe. We have seen gospel concerts advertised in Paris, and in a church in Stockholm they had a youth gospel choir that had even recorded several CDs. It was funny to see a gospel CD cover full of young blonde people.
There is gospel on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, brought in with workers from Jamaica who came to work building the railroad to the coast in the late 1800's, and whose decendants remained.
Fabulous photo V!!! And I love good Gospel music... One of my first favorites as a kid was Mahalia Jackson... most of the best country, blues and R&B singers have gospel backgrounds...

Nice candid shot.
What a great portrait, V.! Love the pose of the gentleman in the foreground.

Beautiful shots! Gospel quartets were a big deal when I was a kid and I always loved those harmonies!
Really nice shots, both of them. I like the glasses, the hand, in the top one. And the out-of focus wall offsetting the men.
Lovely, both shots.
That first shot is amazing. Bet it would look great as a b&w shot.
There's a lot of character in those faces.
