Lovely isn't it? Feels like we're in Paris. If you can't travel to France, let France come to you, is my motto. Today a little wine and a look around this very French bistro right here in Birmingham. Tomorrow, you foodies will want to come back for the piece de resistance - "La Tarte". I haven't heard from mes amies since they arrived in France. I am sure they are painting and enjoying the French countryside, but more than likely catching forty winks!
Let me also say merci beaucoup to the management and staff at Chez Fonfon who have been exceptionally kind to let me come back time and again to take phtographs. Frankly, if I didn't want to wear out my welcome, I would be knocking on their door on a weekly basis.

Ohhhh! It's gorgeous! The colors are so warm and inviting! I would love to slurp down a big glass of red wine here! I'll have to make sure that my Aunt Donna knows about this place. I'll have to turn here into a blogaholic! SHe lives in your wonderful town!

I like your post, Virginia. It is remarkable how some restaurants strive to look like something and some are successful and others are failures. The Chinese restaurants here, where we live, are as varied as the people who eat there and none are really like the real Chinese restaurants, starting with the food.

This restaurant is beautiful! I agree with Abe, they have achieved so much more by making everything so understated, than those places that are so "Look at me trying to be..."

Your new banner is your best, you've really outdone yourself with that one. What I appreciate most about your work is that it is artful but still about your home town. I'm going to be traveling in the next few weeks for about two weeks and I'll be near Birmingham towards the end and I'll be visiting some of the places you've featured. I can't wait.
Oh, I like Euro Birmingham. I want to eat there and enjoy the company of good friends for a few hours.

Virginia I've now stopped believing you're actually blogging from Birmingham. These photos prove that you HAVE to be France!! Your French radar is obviously working at its highest level because these photos are stunning and have such a French flair. I agree with everyone about your new banner photo too -- it's wonderful!

Well, "Louis" wandered in from the pasture and plopped his bovine butt down on one of those right-from-Paris cushioned seats. He apologizes that he neglected to wipe his hooves. He was in too big a hurry to get here - it's oh-so-much like Paris....
