TWO THINGS CHALLENGE: East/West

Up until a few days ago I thought I was going to have to let this TWO THINGS CHALLENGE pass me by.  Thanks to D.C. Confidential, who kindly gave me a few hints, I am able to be a team player this week. Merci my friend.

Here goes:  This gorgeous red  Chinese basket and vase are obviously my EAST, and these well worn and nicely polished cowboy boots are my WEST.  There you have it!

CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER!  The American Institute of Architects  has a new series titled THE SHAPE OF AMERICA.  In the category highlighting the St. Louis Arch, I am sure you can guess that our very own Strangetastes  from St.Louis Daily Photo captured 14 out of the 19 photographs that they selected.  Recognition well deserved!  We however,  can see a fabulous Arch photo each and every Thursday.

The Tune du Jour is "L'hymne a l'amour" by Romane.  Stick around and give this one a listen. You'll like it!

Discover Romane!

Very nice shots of both, Virginia. Rich textures--something you have a knack for.

I also love Lily below, and the nuts below her!

"Le ciel bleu sur nous peut s'effondrer et la terre peut bien s'écrouler" but East and West will always stay together!!

I like those boots in that photograph.

It is really nice to see them. I don't get to see real boots much anymore. Around here they were never popular. Out west in Tucson, even babies wore them with spurs.

Very nice choice! The chinese basket is gorgeous, the kind of object I really like!!! It looks antique, right?

Great interpretation, V! That cowboy boot shot really makes me happy.

I'm glad to see that shout out for Strangetastes, he works hard on his Arch series and deserves the recognition.
The Two Things Challenge is always much harder than it sounds and you have done a splendid job. I love the basket in the enlargement as well as the soles of the boots and the wrinkling at the ankles. Somebody is keeping on their toes!

Both of the things you've chosen have a long history! I like this shop name "Goodyear shoe hospital" too.
Et une nouvelle bannière très réussie ;-)

When East meets West; a touch of the Orient and the Wild West. Excellent work, there's something special about that basket shot.

Love the tunes, too!

Nice interpretation of the theme, V. That Chinese bamboo basket looks familiar to me, it's almost similar to what we have in Bandung. And those boots are just wonderful. I'd love to have one of those. They look very sturdy and well-made.

You hit the nail on that head!

Eki,
I am only assuming the basket is Chinese. It could be from Bandung. Now wouldn't that be a stroke of luck. I would go back and buy it right up!

Alice,
My banner was causing Blogger problems of all things. I tried to be a smartypants and make my own in Photoshop. End of story is another new banner. You all are going to get dizzy!

You capture the light so well on both of these shots - they just glow!
Hmm, first you cause trouble on my blog, now you've graduated to Blogger! Where oh where will it end?
p.s. I'm, having F.B. with my dinner tonight...

Knox,
Oh let B. hear you mention FB or we will start that foolishness all over again! Let me know how it t tastes. Red or white???

Bloggnote, I have blue sky and earth or ground. The ole French dictionary will have to fill in the rest.

Abe, I guess cowboy boots aren't the rage in Ohio!

No Chinese baskets here, but plenty of cowboy boots! Nice photos.

Nice choices. Participatory things like this seem too much like assignments to me. However, that said, I guess one could look at my sailboat in today's post as west to east (literal direction). Tomorrow's post will be buildings named east and west in a group of 3. So I guess in my own unique way I've participated somewhat unwittingly :)

Aw...
"Louis" thought the song would be "These boots are made for walkin'..."

Chuck I know what you mean. Most weeks, if I don't have something or have a photo I really want to post, I skip them. I already had these photos so it was just a matter of making a connection! Feel free to join us when you have something you'd like to use. NExt week is Black/White. I have that one covered!

Now Louis, if you visited every day like all good bovines should, you would know I have already used that song and I like to be versatile, but merci for your lovely suggestion.

For me the nemes keep me grounded, otherwise who knows what you'd be getting from me. Goodyear shoe hosptial, just too sweet. Nice take on the east west theme.

My laptop is deranged. I am posting comments before it wakes up again.

Virginia - The boots look like the ones my Gramper used to wear. Love it! Good combination.
