Heard the news today??? It snowed in Birmingham!!! Well in one yard anyway. I must be the luckiest blogger in the world. I am driving through my neighborhood this morning and low and behold there's a veritable blizzard blowing through this yard!!! Screeech. Pulled over, grabbed the camera and snapped away. A very enterprising neighbor had rigged up his homemade snow machine again this year. Since the temps have hovered in the 60-70'sF for weeks, no go on the snow. But aaahhh, today was a nice frosty morning, just perfect for snow making foolishness. The top photo is his side yard in the process of becoming a Birmingham phenomenon. Late this afternoon, I passed and a neighbor's grandchildren were sledding, and I was recruited to photograph. Oh, twist my arm !!! I risked life and a limb trying to capture their fun as they plummeted down his very steep hill on sleds into bales of pinestraw at the bottom!

Kids playing in the snow make a great subject. Your pictures brought a smile to my face. Thanks.
Marc is new to CDP, Amsterdam DPB. Go see his great photos and new blog everyone. Welcome Marc.
DL, You have enough snow for ALL of us. Glad you consider it a blessing. That's a good attitude. Stay inside with Tom and Jerry.
Kathleen, keep dreaming! I dream of snow AND no loss of power.
B. you can play in it virtually here.
Thanks Mar!
Just a really nice shot. If you told me you were in Aspen for the holidays I'd believe you.
The top shot is lovely, but you are just amazing with children. I can always see what they're thinking.
Oh, sledding! My kind of winter sport. No snow here yet; am still hoping. Great shots, all three of them!
now that's ingenious!
V, hope you have a great Christmas full of fun, family...
and of course, lots of photos!
wow, you can just make snow, just like that? What a world!
I which you a Merry Xmas and a Happy new Year... and keep on with your great blog.
A Dad who makes snow in his B'ham backyard should probably be up for Dad OF The Year.
We have snow makers on the ski hills but we don't happen to need them at the moment.
The top shot came out great CLW.
Wow - a Snow Blower! I need one of those, because it doesn't look like we'll be getting any snow this year either in SE Mo! :( boohoo! & that's all I've been asking for is snow - instead, we're getting only ICE! YUCK
Did you know that you won an award from Marley @ Cheltenham Daily Photo? That's how I found your blog, from his page! Congrats!!!
How very very cool (no pun intended!) What a lovely thing to do at this time of year, we could do with that here! Luck you were on hand. The last B&W photo is my favourite.
And big THANK YOU to Marley for that nice blog award. It is much appreciated!!!
Ms. Hays, please come back and visit anytime! Any friend of Marley's is a friend of mine.
I guess I need to invest in a snow machine, it's probably the closest we'll come to a white Christmas. And here, we moved all the way up to Virginia and I thought we were destined to get a white Christmas, nada, nothing, go figure!
Merry Christmas!
I love when it snows this time of the year because the little ones have so much fun enjoying the snow and the wait for Santa...
Wonderful...
Wonderful photos!!!
I beg your forgiveness for my cutting and pasting – yet constantly reworking – this comment, but there was no way on Earth I would be able to make it around the whole globe to wish everybody a Merry Christmas otherwise.
The magical elves that constitute my staff have demonstrated their lack of respect in either not showing up for work at all, and those that have all seem a little worse for wear, if you catch my drift. All they seem to do is sit around smoking cigarettes that, quite frankly, smell funny. And they play cards and tell dirty jokes rather than do their jobs! Consequently, the reindeer are all filthy and out of shape. And you know, the two rabbits, one wallaby and three wombats I’ve drafted in just don’t cut it as replacements.
Anyway, from myself, Henry and Ezra, have a Merry Christmas/Winter Solstice/Hanukkah/Festivus and a happy New Year!
I hope that all of your holiday photos turn out to be triumphs, your stocking is stuffed full of lots of tasty treats and not coal and that all your pumpkin pies are all as sweet just the way that you like them.
What a BLAST!!!
The top picture is a phenomenom by itself indeed!!!
We don't have such neighbors around here and not a chance to see snow... so the only way to enjoy snow is to visit blogs like yours, lucky me.
Happy Holidays Virginia!
What QTies ... enjoying the snow. Thanks for sharing with those of us who have no snow and probably never will. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Hugs and blessings,
