The Redmont Hotel has been a Birmingham landmark for 81 years. It has been renovated and now offers hotel and resident accomodations. Located on 5th Avenue North in downtown Birmingham, I think the flags and umbrellas provide a grand welcome to guests. I have fond memories of band parties held there after college football games at Legion Field, during my Auburn days.

I see a richness of reds again. Downtown Birmingham just knocks spots off the it's name sake. Well I publically named the sight today on the blog who steal images.

How can you remember post football games? I couldn't even remember the games, although, I do remember beating Auburn;I think they were referred to as The War Eagles then.

The Redmont was the first hotel in Birmingham to offer a private bath in each room. Over the years it has been many things from a five star hotel to a bordello, but now is a very good hotel.

Love those red umbrellas. Kinda, sorta, maybe, possibly, reminds one a little teeny bit of Paree?

Alan, thanks for the history! I'm in France and am barely able to post some photos daily, much less any real details. I appreciate you jumping in. DO it often!HA
