Spring-a-Ling-a-Ding-Dong!

With a catchy name like that how could this event not be a blast??? Well it lived up to its name. This street party in Mountain Brook's English Village all began last year when Continental
Bakery and Chez Lulu Restaurant owner Carole Griffin dreamed it all up to celebrate the bakery's 25th anniversary. It was so well received that she decided to do it again this year. Area merchants as well as artist and vendors joined in and made it a great event for the community.

How can I describe it? Well, try and imagine sweet little fairies decked out in tutus and wings, a brass band replete with pink feathers, a Chicken Lady (with chickens) , giant papier mâché puppets, a bread toss, hula hoop contest, oh and did I mention the mock beheading of Marie Antoinette? I have a bucket full of photos but today, let's salute Carole who was the absolute star of the show!

What fun, do you remember making flowers out of tissues (kleenex)?

Fantastic outfit and shots, V.! When I saw the top shot I immediatly thought the lady could be at the Royal Ascot Races (UK), but as I scrolled down I realized she couldn't! LOL! How very cool!

She had an incredible hat and quite the "get-up" on! Must have been fun to photograph her, non?

Totally sooooooooo much fun. Needs to be a yearly event! And you need to be the official photographer!

The striped tights are popular with several Carnival Band members too.

She's so beautiful and she bakes! A winning combination. Great shots, V.

When I looked at the first picture I thought the Easter Parade came late to B'ham. When I looked at the second I thought you were having a Dr. Seuss festival. When I looked at the third I thought B'ham ladies run around in their nighties. What a confusing city.

Not such an easy thing to wear! And she wears it so well. But the shoes? The shoes! Well...
