100+ Strangers Challenge - The Barber Shop

Stranger # 108

Last Saturday I was downtown for a shoot with some photographer buddies at the Alabama Theater.  When we were done there, our intrepid guide Tom Cronier lead us across the street to the Lyric.   LaTrelle Grayson, one of my former photography students extraordinaire, spotted this barber shop and headed right in. I did teach that man a thing or two!  I threw down my camera bag and tripod and marched in behind  him.  Oh now this was a grand opportunity.  This nice gentleman was getting his beard trimmed and didn't mind a bit having his photo taken. The barbers obliged as well.  I will perhaps share more photos but intend to make another trip downtown to this place!

i love this shot! my husband just told me about a new-ish restaurant here that had previously been an old barber shop for over 100 years. so sad that the restaurant took it over and tore it down.

Love it!!! Another portrait extraordinaire!!!

I've been out of touch for awhile...moving, the internet was shut off before it was supposed to be, total disorganization in the new place!!!

This may illustrate a difference between B'ham and STL. Around here black barber shops are African-American men's clubs. Us honkies just don't go there. Maybe I am being way too timid.

BOb Crowe.......... a lawyer that's TIMID? Don't make me come out to The Lou and show you how it's done!

Chieftess, I"m ready to see your new home. I"ll be out that way in Oct. Be there or be square!
