BADP On The Road - Auburn, Alabama

This past weekend I attended a Kappa Delta reunion in Auburn, Alabama.  A very good time was had by all 350 of us.  The main event was held at the Jule Collins Smith Museum in Auburn.   Amber Lustre, the exquisite chandelier by Dale Chihuly was so amazing I think I might have taken one zillion shots of it before I could quit. It arrived at the museum in 600 pieces and workmen on cherry pickers placed each and every piece on the metal shaft.  It was stunning to view in person.

Great image! Now you have to come back for a visit on my street! Isn't the museum the most peaceful space? Did you go there for A Little Lunch Music on Thursday? Something we can do when you come again!

You made it look every bit as beautiful as it is, Virg!

This is very similar to an exhibit in the Children's Museum in Indianapolis. Very nice.

Chihuly's chandeliers look like deep sea creatures or diagrams of of viruses. You nailed this one. I've got a conference in Seattle in a couple of weeks and there is a new outdoor Chihily sculpture garden near where we're staying. Snaps to follow.

I love Chihuly's glass sculptures. Amazing, and almost impossibly delicate!

Oh, and a big War Eagle!!!

I immediately recognized the artistry of Chihuly but this is one of his most intricate pieces. I would love to have a small one of these - even a reproduction. It just speaks to me.
