Field Trip !
Over the years since I began my photographic journey, I've made a few field trips north of Birmingham to Cullman, It's a sleepy little town with a lot of terrific photo ops. For a while, I"m revisiting my photos from those trips. Today and for the next few posts, we'll stop in at Southern Accents Architectural Antiques in downtown Cullman. Treasure trove is an understatement. In a warehouse out back, lots of architectural details and old windows and doors. I could have stayed a week!
Come back tomorrow as I'll still be digging through my archives for more!

Sunday Church Series - The Cross
When visiting Cullman, Alabama a few weeks ago we made a stop at St. Bernard College and walked down to the lovely cemetery and chapel there. The simple, but beautiful chapel, which was not open on my last visit, was a special find. Its sparse furnishings allow the stained glass windows to show through. This afternoon, the light cast some interesting shadows.

The Vine Covered Window
This image is deceiving. Actually it was taken from the inside of a Southern Accents Architectural Antiques looking out. These vines were hanging outside over the glass. I was fascinated by the shadows etc. that give the appearance of a vine covered wall.

In Remembrance - Abbey Cemetery
In April when my blog friends Janet and Maya paid me a visit, you might remember our trip to Cullman, AL to see the Ave Maria Grotto. This cemetery is where the Benedictine monks from St. Bernard Abbey are buried. What a lovely spot. It was a privelege to capture these photographs of their resting place.

Padre
Today the The Happy Bloggers--Maya, Janet, and I--made a field trip to Cullman, Alabama. After visiting the Ave Maria Grotto, we stopped to photograph the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Outside only. Our attempts at illegal interior photos were nixed by the Big Guy Himself. However, as we left I ran, literally, to get this shot of the padre ambling away from the church. For an eighty year-old man, he was moving at a fair shuffle. I was the paparazzi chasing the papa!

V NOTE: Get a crowd of bloggers under one roof and this is what happens. We start blogging for each other. Tonight, after a wonderful dinner by Chef Janet, we have critiqued each other's photos from today's travels to a fare thee well and collaborated on everyone's post photos. Tomorrow, I'll be on my own again, but be looking for another guest photographer's offerings coming soon!
