CDP THEME DAY - LINES / Herding Cats!

This is a loose interpretation of LINES!  I shot this at my church as a class of 3 year olds did their very best at walking down the stairs in a LINE!  The term "herding cats" sprang to mind.  I could hardly hold the camera as I attempted to keep from laughing AND  help Miss Brenda get them ready for the ascent, "hands on the railing."  There you have it- sort of a line.  The bottom photo is my favorite.  This is my precious next door neighbor who was the first to arrive at the bottom.  I caught him after he had a few spins around the cross.

The Tune du Jour is "I Walk the Line" by Johnny Cash of course!

X marks the spot for that little guy in the second shot! Oh, Virginia, how I love these photos. Those little cuties are my baby girl's age. 3 is a wonderful age!

(I'm grooving to the Johnny Cash, too...)

I like taking photographs of staircases and the railings and was thinking of posting one for today's theme day, but changed my mind. With those little kids element, yours is wonderful, V. The bottom picture is also grand.

Oh...these are great photos, Virginia!!
Sometimes you live situations where you wished you had your camera with you...and you had!!

Haha, hearding cats, yes it's quite similar. I think the same thing when I am trying to heard my own. Great choice for the theme day and funny, I had Johnny Cash singing in my head with my theme, although I was thinking "Folsom Prison Blues"! Happy Theme Day

What a fantastic idea for the 'line' subject! They all look so cute trying not to fall. :-)

HellO! First thing I'd say in this coment is this "I LOVE YOUR BLOG!"

I can say that first, I saw your Title Picture, very cute and very in-season!. then your posts, love them and most of all, your theme day feature! It is very clever not just showing "lines" as the railings of the staircase but also the "line" of these cute little angels! I really love it!

I Hope I can see you on my blog. And hope you'd be able to like mine as I've liked yours!

I think lines has been my favoutire theme. There is line upon line here, some very subtle layered ones. It's a compelling image, but I have Village of the Damned in my head now. Excellent all round.

not a loose interpretation at all!
in fact, you've got a bunch of lines in there - the kids walking in a line, the lines of "spokes" on the railing, the lines which give the stairs their structure and with so many interpretations one can't help but to try to read between the lines! i bet that paper in the bottom left of the photo has lines for writing too...
thanks for stopping by today! and i must see your eggplant shots! are they the same bright purple or a deeper, blacker purple? i've never seen japanese eggplants before so was quite astounded at the vibrancy of their color.
and yes, nothing else but johnny cash today... although "straight lines" by silverchair also came to mind! in fact, the lyrics go: "...waking up strong in the morning, walking in a straight line" - kinda applies to these little rascals trying to do the same!
catch you later :)

Great photo Virginia! You've got lines within lines - the lines of kids and all the lines from the railing. It's really wonderful. Excellent choice for the theme day!

At least the cats are cute. And it's a good choice for "lines."
I swear, Americans WILL NOT form lines easily - maybe it's that rugged individualism ehtic, I don't know. You should see us adults try to line up in tai chi class - we all end up laughing because sometimes the lining up takes as long as the set.
... and Village of the Damned - hee!

It's like a scene out of 'John and Kate plus 8'. Cuties!

Knox,
In 19 years of teaching I wonder how many years I spent just trying to get a crowd of 3rd graders in a straight line??? Probably too many to count.

Lucy,
Love John and Kate plus 8 and it was exactly like that. Another reason I will do creative stuff for our Day School but steadfastly refuse to be a sub.
"Organizing Earthworms" also comes to mind-HA

I love THEME DAY too. It's great to see how diverse and creative everyone is using the same theme. Hope my visitors will take time and visit other blogs today.

There’s nothing quite like ‘herding’ groups of little ones. I’m impressed with these kiddos ;--)

Gotta' be the cutest line ever! Impressive with the managed potential chaos. :)

Hah! The vertical lines in the railing make up for the lack of order among the small cats :) Very cool photo ... and I know I'd be laughing, too!

Nice kitties! Since they were at church they were all the more angelic. I love yesterday's post s well, especially after I saw the close-up.

Keeping 3 year olds in a line. That takes skill. I guess being in a Church kinda helps. Nice theme post.

This is WONDERFUL! They are so cute & while I thought of people forming lines, I would of never thought of kiddie lines. They are just precious. Reminds me of my son's preschool days when Ms. Zoo (Miss Sue) made every little charge of hers hold the railing! She had my then 3-yr son bawling by yanking his blankie out of his right hand to make sure he followed the rules. He got over it quick, but I still remember it as a traumatic parental moment. :)

Virginia said...

Tash,
Miss Virginia was too busy laughing at how hysterical the whole line thing was to be of much help to Miss Brenda, who had it all under control. And look how well they finally ended up! I was amazed. Third graders were more up my alley!

Merci Miss Brenda and all your little chicks!!

As a teacher of the very young, I can attest that walking in line is the first of many life skills we teach. We continue to practice it the rest of our lives.
These babies are just precious and they're doing a great job!
