This is a loose interpretation of LINES! I shot this at my church as a class of 3 year olds did their very best at walking down the stairs in a LINE! The term "herding cats" sprang to mind. I could hardly hold the camera as I attempted to keep from laughing AND help Miss Brenda get them ready for the ascent, "hands on the railing." There you have it- sort of a line. The bottom photo is my favorite. This is my precious next door neighbor who was the first to arrive at the bottom. I caught him after he had a few spins around the cross.

I like taking photographs of staircases and the railings and was thinking of posting one for today's theme day, but changed my mind. With those little kids element, yours is wonderful, V. The bottom picture is also grand.

I think lines has been my favoutire theme. There is line upon line here, some very subtle layered ones. It's a compelling image, but I have Village of the Damned in my head now. Excellent all round.

in fact, you've got a bunch of lines in there - the kids walking in a line, the lines of "spokes" on the railing, the lines which give the stairs their structure and with so many interpretations one can't help but to try to read between the lines! i bet that paper in the bottom left of the photo has lines for writing too...
thanks for stopping by today! and i must see your eggplant shots! are they the same bright purple or a deeper, blacker purple? i've never seen japanese eggplants before so was quite astounded at the vibrancy of their color.
and yes, nothing else but johnny cash today... although "straight lines" by silverchair also came to mind! in fact, the lyrics go: "...waking up strong in the morning, walking in a straight line" - kinda applies to these little rascals trying to do the same!

I swear, Americans WILL NOT form lines easily - maybe it's that rugged individualism ehtic, I don't know. You should see us adults try to line up in tai chi class - we all end up laughing because sometimes the lining up takes as long as the set.

Love John and Kate plus 8 and it was exactly like that. Another reason I will do creative stuff for our Day School but steadfastly refuse to be a sub.

This is WONDERFUL! They are so cute & while I thought of people forming lines, I would of never thought of kiddie lines. They are just precious. Reminds me of my son's preschool days when Ms. Zoo (Miss Sue) made every little charge of hers hold the railing! She had my then 3-yr son bawling by yanking his blankie out of his right hand to make sure he followed the rules. He got over it quick, but I still remember it as a traumatic parental moment. :)

Miss Virginia was too busy laughing at how hysterical the whole line thing was to be of much help to Miss Brenda, who had it all under control. And look how well they finally ended up! I was amazed. Third graders were more up my alley!

As a teacher of the very young, I can attest that walking in line is the first of many life skills we teach. We continue to practice it the rest of our lives.
