This is one of the most beautiful walking trails in Birmingham. It meanders through the beautiful Robert Jemison Park. You saw the creek that runs beside it here. If you aren't ready to stop you can cross Shades Creek Parkway and keep going! I couldn't count the number of miles I have logged here over the years, but it's always a beautiful, peaceful place to stroll any time of the year. I drove past this stretch of the trail on my way to the grocery store Saturday. I tried to pass that gorgeous light and shadows, but my car just pulled into a parking spot, and I had to jump out, take 5 or 6 quick shots and be on my way. You hard core photographers out there know I 'm talking about. It just seems to take longer to get anywhere...especially when there's that soft afternoon light.....
The Tune du Jour is "Chances Are" by Johnny Mathis. This will bring some wistful smiles from those of you around my age. Memory Lane indeed!

It does look idyllic! Not bad for a stop & go. (I've done Botanic Gardens in 15 minutes while out at the grocery store :) & many times I angle the car so I can just drive by & snap so I guess I'm a hardcore Californian amature photographer.)

(shall I leave it at that or actaully say)... photographers. Of course it's the light streaming through, creating those shadow lines. Do you find you notice the world in a different way now you do the daily?
Virginia...I feel exactly the same way about opportunities for taking photographs. My camera is with me all the time, and I just can't stop snapping pictures...the sky has been taking my breath away all summer and into the fall. Your work is beautiful.

Good morning, Virginia! I'm all pouty seeing this. It's beautiful and every blog I visit that shows the turning leaves is so appreciated since I can't be there.
Last night on the way to the beach I turned a corner and saw this really strange looking cat come out of the woods. SCREECH!. It was a raccoon and I spent about three minutes snapping photos until it finally turned and disappeared. Always keep the camera nearby!
What a wonderful trail, V! I would love to be there ... It must be even more beautiful when the leaves start to turn red, crimson, yellos, and orange ... Would you take a photo of this trail again when they do? Please ... ;)

my this is inredibly flat! And peaceful..
Alice ,I can't show you tout au bout because a very large tree fell across the path and I was too frightened to crawl around it because that spot is where a large water mocassin has been spotted all too often. I walked there this am and will go back tomorrow and park in a different spot.
Bergson, joggers abound. They will run side by side and try and make the walkers jump over. Not me! I stare em down!HA

Eki, the leaves are just turning and I promise you more photos later. I took almost 100 this am on my walk. I don't usually walk with my camera because it's so heavy!
KM I walk this trail because it is flat. B'ham is sooo hilly. My neighborhood is too much for me.
Yes, I do see things differently as a photographer. I will have to do better at shooting on the run in Paris or I won't get very far!

How far out of town is this gorgeous path? No wonder you love France. This reminds me of my childhood in the suburbs wet of Paris, Croissy-sur-Seine and Le Vesinet.
This trail is right outside of Birmingham in the suburb of Mountain Brook. As you look to the left of this sidewalk you see one of their elementary school soccer fields. It is a well kept and lovely trail. In the summer the temp is probably 10 degrees cooler. More shots later on.
