That's What Friends Are For

Ooohhh, I know what you're thinking.  Some great guy sent Virginia  these gorgeous  flowers.  Well.... not really.  But I did the next best thing.  I bought them for a gathering of  some  very special neighborhood friends,  and now I have these golden blooms brightening every corner of my home.  This small bouquet sits right beside my computer,  so I can enjoy it day and night.  Why don't we treat ourselves now and then?   I love fresh flowers.  What am I waiting for??   Maybe I'll start throwing a bouquet in my grocery cart once in a while and share it with a friend.  For today, it is a pleasure to share the sunshine with each of you!

Mumsie,
I think I might have the pleasure of being your first comment on a picture for once! Such an honor! These flowers are gorgeous..and I so agree that flowers can brighten a day for a friend! Thanks for being such a good friend to me...and also thanks for raising such a precious rare gem of a friend, your daughter, whom I am lucky to call one of my closest friends.

Paris--28 days..how awesome!!

Virginia, Beautiful flowers! I think fall flowers are especially lovely - at least until the spring flowers arrive and then for a time they are the most lovely. Beautifully captured.

Lovely photo and lovely thought. The best you could receive today was your daughter's declaration of her love for you.

Fall flowers are my favorite, and I have just treated myself to some, too!

Go to the Marche aux Fleurs in Paris...or just about any other open market, for a real treat.

Beautiful .... We have many gardens, so we are set from May to about now...But we do keep fresh flowers in the house year round. It brings a very special kind of life to any home. I am enjoying your site very much.

What a beautiful bouquet! The yellow and gold feel very Autumn-ish.

Yes, getting fresh flowers for yourself is a good thing. I used to do that every Sunday, especially tulips during Spring.

Beautiful bouquet, V. Yellow is my favorite color, and the warm hues and nice lighting make this photo of this beautiful bouquet even more beautiful. Thanks for sharing the delight.

It is a beautiful morning treat. Or afternoon in my case. I treated myself to far to much last night with visiting Irish friends. This is a nice soothing image for me today.

I just need to tell the friends of Virg on this blog that I am the lucky one that is going to travel to Paris with her. 28 Days!! I love this photo as it portrays some of her great personality and qualities.

A friend just emailed me that he is having trouble linking to the comments here. Anyone having the same problem? Could it be BLogger??? I have no clue.

B. , Glad my flowers are soothing for you today. Overserved were you???? :) Hope you weren't out shooting photos in that state!

Bibi, the flower shops were my favorite photography stops in Paris. Maybe I'll buy a bunch for our hotel room.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments. It's finally feeling like fall in Alabama today. A little chill is finally in the air!

You've catched a piece of sun with these flowers! Orange which I don't like very much in Summer, is, in my opinion, a very nice color in fall, when the light begins to soften. Maybe will you have some flowers in your room at the hotel?
And hello to Karen!

Plaudits well deserved! A nice touch of Autumnal warmth.

BTW....the ducks and coots just know who's boss! They go all still and stop moving 'til they here the shutter ;-)

Godd afternoon, Virginia! I'm off to a late start with my blogging rounds here at Piazza Ucello but what a lovely surprise to see such flowers. I must say they just took my breath away.
Isn't it nice to travel around the world each day and see so many wonderful things? It's a surprise there aren't more of us. They just don't know what they're missing.

This post reminds me of when I used to always include a bouquet of posies in my weekly shopping cart. Why did I stop doing that? I guess having a child made me forget about pampering MYSELF! I'm going to put flowers on my grocery list this week and think of you when I look at them. Great reminder, Ms. V!

(BTW, was your neighborhood get-together fun?)

Virginia said...

Good for you Laurie and don't forget to share a few!

The get together was indeed fun if the plethora of wine bottles is any indication!! The neighborhood group is as diverse as this wonderful community of bloggers, as PJ pointed out. Where else can you get a trip around the world every morning and get to stop along the way for a chat with all your friends????

Gorgeous blossoms, and a lovely thought, too. You are right, we rarely treat ourselves as well as we should. Thanks for the reminder.

You are so right. . .so right. . .

I have not forgotten the grammar site. . .Are you taking photos for it? Reason I've delayed:

I apologize for this cut and paste comment, but I did want to let you know why I've been so quiet lately. In addition to being quite overwhelmed with schoolwork right now, I am in the midst of trying to get our house sold. I'm not whining, and I don't mean to use those as an excuse. I just want you to know I'm sorry I can't leave a comment every day.

I heard long ago that you should not wait on one to bring you flowers, add your own sunshine to your own life, and grow a garden! So, I do, and we love our blooms of flowers and veggies too!-Kat
