Virginia, Why do I think they start out as strangers but don't end up that way? Looks like Waylon Jennings here. Great faces - great captures of them.

I haven't seen your Alabama Theater post! How did I miss it? The place looks fantastic and the photos are just great. The 1st one is gorgeous!

You're inspiring me, as usual. My interest is growing in the 100 Stranger challenge. Though I'm afraid with my rinky dink camera and skills to match, my portraits may not be postable.
Anyway, I'd love to see the tip sheet you mentioned.

Virginia, these are absolutely marvellous! You are enjoying this new project, aren't you? I love the waiter but the second photo with the wry looking couple is the most intriguing. Love to know their story.

I am trying to catch up...
I love your posts about the Alabama Theater...

D,
Don't worry about your camera. It's what you do with it that counts and once you get started it gets easier. I took one last night that I will post tomorrow, that I could kick myself for not taking more time to set up. I am still trying to rush it through! Hope you got the tip sheet I sent.

JM,
Thanks and you get a day off now and then!HA

Therese,
Your part of the country is fascinating. I enjoy your photos so very much.

Jilly and Judy,
Thanks! Your encouragement helps me to keep going with this. and doesn't the waiter have the sweetest face!!!

I love the waiter. I want to sit at his table.

You are getting wonderful results and experience your project. The second one grabs me the most. They just look so genuine. I'm a little bothered by the waiter - that diagonal light fixture kinda looks like it's growing out of his ear.

Am I am so glad you have taken up the maxim it isn't the camera but what you do with it and encouraged others. It really is true. Genuine is the word for all. In an plastic world it is refreshing to see such workaday people living a life. I may have to do a sneaky 100 strangers. Images of people they don't know have been taken. I think you might find the local (wild)life interesting. Keep on.

Bob
Feel free to photoshop that fixture right out for me! That is a skill I have not mastered yet obviously! As I have shared with you, I am still rushing to get the shot without being a bother or stopping someone from doing their job etc. and don't set my shots up as well as I should. I have got to slow down and think before I pull the trigger.

B,
I would LOVE to see some of the citizens of your fine city. Whooo eeeee!

Ok I will be doing the unofficial 100 strangers. nO neme just for a laugh. These will be snatched images of the residents of Ramsey. Colud be brilliant could be a disaster.

Re the light out of the ear waiter. In time you will find you will access the background and note it. I once worked with a brilliant wedding photographer who had a 6th sense for this kind of shot and never ever got caught out by the background. Believe me I have done this in the early days. My old boss once old me " you don't make mistake you aren't doing anything" exactly. Of course I would insistIi I did it that way purposely.

Wow! Your strangers are amazing. I love the variety of faces and expressions here. Very, very nice, Vee.

I'm home all day tomorrow. What time do you want to catch up?

I have to have time to study these faces,up close and in context. Are they on Flickr where I can see them one by one?

Virginia said...

PJ< Not on FLickr. Sorry. And they don't bear up close scrutiny believe me! Did I respond that I got the cute kid running down the boardwalk?? Love him!!

OK Virg,

Don't tell me that Goren is a stranger. He's been with Frank almost since Highlands opened.
