Many of you have commented on the nice light and shadows we get here in the winter. I agree! This was photographed at the Japanese Gardens recently . It's really all about the light, isn't it!

ombre et lumiere, superbe (surtout quand on l'ouvre en grand )
shadow and light, beautiful (especially when you open it in large)
Let here always be light, however poor. I love Olivier's translations. It is a golden peach triumph. Early comment form me. Off to celebrate my Birthday, as much as one can here with no camera.
I do agree ;-))
I read somewhere that making a good photo was not about capturing the subject, but all about capturing the "light". You do it well.
You're preaching a convert, speaking about capturing the light! Good work here Virginia!!!
And Virginia your "capture France through your lens" project is such an exciting one! I hope your offer gets lots of enquiries. Your Paris blog certainly speaks for the project. Who wouldn't want to be part of something like that???
Winter has to have some good things!! and this is one of them!
We are lucky to be able to play with those lights!!
Tu as fait une tres belle photo aujourd'hui, Virginia. ;~))
I like the new banner V.
Yes, all about the light. And recognizing a good thing when you see it. And having your camera handy. Well done V!
I was about to say the tree looks like a gigantic bonsai and then I read the shot was taken at the Japanese Gardens. Wonderful, V.!
This is just beautiful. Golden, soft, beautiful light and shadow and what a wonderfully crazy shaped tree. Superb.
Magnificent shots as always, I always enjoy visiting your blog, I cannot wait to visit Birmingham one day.
Cheers!

Today was a beautiful day to be in the South. I took some photos today that were all about the light, I hope they turn out half as beautifully as this did.
Such a soft and subtle photo with the light. It looks a bit like a California scene to me. I really must visit Birmingham.
How wonderful if all of you WOULD visit me in B"ham.
The red carpet awaits you all.

How lovely: it looks like the death throes of a bonsai.
Like Bob, I think that it looks very bonsai.
Bob, Crack me up. Only you would think of that!
Snapper, It's a lot to think about!
