Don't get me wrong, although we have mild winters around here, things are far from green everywhere. I'll think you'll agree that sometimes brown is just as beautful!

Brown IS beautiful. A coincidence is I took a very similar photo yesterday of a dead thistle against a brown background. I love your branches with rain, too.
I like your photos in this post, Virginia. The plumes remind me of some of the grasses I have here. The snow and ice has damaged their glory but they are still nice as they wave in the winds.
Do you know what kind of grass or whatever that is in the top photo? It seems to be very popular but I don't remember it being common until recent years. It's all over STL. Even saw it in Japan. I've tried to shoot it backlit and can never get it right. Nice job here.
These are wonderful pictures, the winter brown is what we have in my part of the world too, and although I think the white is much better. brow looks lovely through your lens.
Bob, I looked at every "clump" and no sign ti tekk what the name is . When I find it or can find an employee of the gardens that's in the know, I'll let you know. It is spectacular and when I went again and the sun was setting, i swooned!!!!!
Maybe this why I see earthy colours in your Paris images because you are also drawn to browns long with red and green. I do like this as a collection. This would be grouped for display like this. Wise choices.
