* While I am in France, I have asked some of my photography friends to share some of their fine work with you. I hope you will leave them comments. I'm sure they will enjoy hearing from you as much as I do! While I'm gone I will be blogging on Paris Through My Lens. Stop by and follow my adventures in France!!!

My guest photographer Doug Stocks shot this building on UAB's campus on the southside of Birmingham. How many of us would have walked right past this one? I know I would. Aren't we glad Doug stopped!

Be sure to check out the fantastic photographs on Doug's website.

This is the sort of photograph that opens my eyes to elements around me that I would otherwise pass blithely by. Thank you, Doug.

May I add that Doug always says I photograph things he passes right by but I have to disagree. This is a prime example of his "eye"!

I like the simple graphic style of this shot. Hi Doug!

Virginia, what a nice idea, to share your blog (and world fame) with your friends.

Thank you; this has woken me up to a simple subject with bold lines that make the statement.

Hello, American person who is in France. I like this one a lot, as you might have guessed - spare, high-impact, great graphic sense.

Looking forward to seeing, well, at least a photo of a cup of espresso with something from the patisserie.

Nice, clean, simple lines. Right up my alley!

Thank you all for your kind words. Interestingly (perhaps), I had just parked my car on the way to shoot something else when this caught my eye. I no longer remember that something else, I'm sure it was rather mundane.

The high contrast and the spatial relationships are very cool.
