Bend Over Let Me See You Shake a Tailfeather

Back in May, the STAIR tutors took their students to the Birmingham Zoo as an end of the year field trip.  I found these flamingoes to be great subjects.  They came very close to the fence and then did a little tail feather shaking for us!

* I checked out Amir's Tehran Daily Photo blog today. He has posted a short message for us. You might want to read it. What a blessing to have him home safely and able to correspond with us again!

I don't know about you, but I LOVE Dan and John as the Blues Brothers. Sing it brothers!!!!

Flamingos are fascinating. I remember seeing a flock of them in the Singapore Bird park. The colours - your shots - just beautiful.

I've only seen these guys fly once. It is beautiful to behold.

Do you think they sometimes dream about a hair color makeover? Yellow for example...

Thérèse,
Actually I saw some ladies in Paris whose hair color could rival these guys! HA

The first picture is almost abstract, great composition. The, um, portrait is, ah, penetrating. And your header photo is fabulous.

In NJ now at little sis'. Finally get to sit still for a bit.

The Blues Brothers is one of my favourite films.. and my sons as well... Apart from all the police chases that they liked it introduced them to some great music and songs... Love the image...

The flamingo on the 1st shot was just posing for you, V.! Amazing colours and textures!
I still have a lot of flamingo feathers I collected at Lake Bogoria, in Kenya, where there is a huge colony of these birds. It's a breathtaking view, but not so much for the smell... LOL!

We have lots of flamingos in Florida but I don't think I've ever been able to photograph them as well as you have!

Truly beautiful birds. A little haughty, though.

Happy 4th!

Jacob,
Yes, the second shot shows a little attitude I think!

JM,
Ewwww. Never thought about that. Do you have photos somewhere of the flamingoes?

Tom,
Always glad you enjoy the tunes!

BTW, I thought I might be the one misspelling the plural of flamingo. The dictionary says we are all correct- flamingos OR flamingoes. Whew!
