All In Favor....

I have been meaning to visit Frontera for a long time, and take you with me of course. Well I went this week in search of a coffee table base and photos. I found both! Frontera specializes in hand crafted wrought iron furniture and accessories, but they've got lot more. A whole lot more. This wooden crate of hands for instance. I laughed out loud and then pulled my camera out. We'll be back.

This is cool! Does the store sell them, or do they just 'lend a hand?'

Sorry....couldn't resist.

belle photo, elle me fait penser a une sculpture que l'on trouve dans un petit jardin de NYC en hommage au 11 Septembre

Ah, glove molds. Very sculptural.

Very nice. By the way--I LOVE your blogger head photo. Eva looks lovely, as usual.

Could have found it's place in a modern art museum!
Don't raise your hands all together!

Thanks everyone. I tossed around a lot of titles but it got late and I had to make a choice. Glove molds?? Well who knew!!

Janet, I thought Eva looked cute in the photo. I sent it along with a few others to the artist herself, Amy Pleasant, who has become a new friend.

Sandi,
Want to go back with me when I get my coffee table? :) You know there's a lot of stuff in that place to photograph!

The wooden crate holding the 'hands' is interesting in its own right.

Why, it's a show of hands.

(The mind reels, make it stop.)

Love the crate of hands. I need to go "visit" them myself.

Just this morning, I was wondering if you've ever been to Davis Wholesale Florist on 5th Ave South...there's not a lot of light inside but you might find some interesting things to photograph. They sell to the public so you can waltz right in the door.

I've got to hand it to you, V. You do come up with some interesting images. In fact, I'd say you're the best, hands down (or hands up, as the case may be).

Steviewren,
I go to Davis from time to time and never even thought of photographing there. Merci!

Jacob,
I've gotta hand it to you. You always have an great comeback! :)

Hiker,
That was one of the possible titles but I'd used it way back when for another post!

These are like, um, glove mannequins, aren't they? A little spooky. Makes me think of the hands of the aliens in Close Encounters.

Guess we've got to hand it to you, Virginia -:)

This display reminds me of one I ran across when walking NY with Ming year before last. http://almostoneaday.blogspot.com/2008/09/ny-postcard-2.html

I vote this shot an official Birmingham Daily Photo Classic (TM), that's BDPC in shorthand. It brings together Virginia's artistic eye and sense of fun, pulls visitors further in to understand and enjoy what they are seeing, and its just plain beautiful and interesting to look at.

Chuck,
When I shot this I remembered how much I loved Ming's photo as well. Handy huh??

Kim,
Aw shucks, it was just plain fun to see , laugh at and then remember to take a shot of!
