First it's a photo shoot at Oak Hill Cemetery, now I am having a ball at the Day of the Dead Festival! I guess the Cemetery in Montmartre is next. Meanwhile this was my first time to attend this wonderful event , and I'm so glad I did. Bare Hands Gallery on Richard Arrington Blvd. South, hosted this 6th Annual Dia de los Muertos Festival . The festivities started at 1:00 and lasted into the night. Oh my, it's an eyeful!!! I took about 100 photos in a very short time. One day's post is NOT going to get the job done. I couldn't begin to capture it all or choose the one or two I really want you to see. To quote Strangetastes, " A photographer's buffet." Consider today's offerings your appetizer!
Top Photo: Isn't she fabulous? I couldn't stop snapping photos of her. There were many folks young and old dressed as skeletons and other spirits.
Bottom Photo: One of the many shrines for the dearly departed.

félicitation pour ton award, bravo tu le mérites.
Ce portait est magnifique, mais de quoi faire peur a tes visiteurs ;o)
Congratulations on your award, you deserve congratulations.
This port is beautiful, but what has to scare your visitors ;o)
Amazing photos!
Congrats and hope you know where your passport is.
Don't want you to delay your trip... ; )
I'm pleased you're finally heeding my advice Virginia. Tractors or cleavage, you can't go wrong.
This woman is absolutely devilish and very beautiful
Spoooky! Love these two photos. I hope you won't run into the likes of her in Paris...just ghosts of the cultural elite in Montmartre and/or Pere Lachaise, for example. Baudelaire lies in the latter, and is my favorite French poet.
There are special people all over the world.
I am just glad that birds don't shave or wear clothes.
I had a math teacher in 8th grade that wore her makeup like this.Over thiry years ago.I never thought I would forget her name but have.
A ghoulish beauty! What a fun and interesting venue to shoot!
I love the look but don't know how to even begin putting it together. I think I'll just sit back and enjoy the portrait.
Wow, she's great! What a colorful festival. Can't wait to see more :)
The richness of the color is fantastic. Great choice for a ghoul shot to post!
Congrats on your Kreativ Blogger Award. It's nice to see your list of five things that make you happy.
Will you post from Paris?
Mame, no posts from Paris, but with any luck may get to leave comments here on my blog.
Foody, I practically sleep with my passport!
I love the glasses! Very cool. This was really a photographers dream. Look forward to more :)
Love the portrait.
Congrats on your award!
Congratulations for this new award!
I especially like this lady's glasses!
can't wait for my daughter to see your blog! she had to go to Atlanta for a dance competition and really wanted to attend this event. so, we did the next best thing and asked Virginia to go!
Congratulations on this award,
you are going to have to buy a special shelf to put all of them!!
That festival must have been a Ball for a photographer like you..
Beautiful and scary red hair Lady!
fantastic colors! creepy eyeballs!
Virginia, this photo is scarier than anything posted on Halloween. I'm looking forward to more of your images of this wacky event. And thanks for your kind words...
Mixed feelings in frotn of this lady... but the portrait is fabulous!
Yes, congratulations of course! I see a number of points that we share... including the last one!
What a woman. She certainly has entered into the spirit of things. Very disappointed with the turn out here. No manx festive spirt at all I have had a rant today. Are we still counting strangers. I think this lady conuts as several.
Beautiful Lady... Nice post...
Wonderful photo of this lady! Congrats on your award and have a great trip!
She is fantastic! Love those glasses.
V. I see you've been experimenting with your avatars/photos - I love the current one with your grand-daughter.
That lady is absolutely fantastic!!! And your photo surely makes her justice! I love it!
The 2nd photo reminds me of 'Mexico lindo' and makes me wish to come back for more of that wonderful country.
Sacre Bleu!!! You HAVE become a cemetery hound, comme moi!
Congrats on the well-deserved award - you're the bestest!!!
xx,
M
Congratulations on your award. It was well deserved.
What an interesting photo. I love the flowers in her hair and the necklace. :-) The rest is a little scary.
N.B.: Can't vote. I'm what they called a resident alien.

You didn't give your camera to someone else while you posed, did you? However (and with no bias whatsoever) my favorite Halloween costume blog post is from Chicago Flair.
Resident Alien, Ming??? what spaceship did you get off of? HA WEll just go to brunch and have a grand day off work! :)
S..T., you got it! How smart of you. I guess the cleavage gave me away. I did like A.'s funny creature on his blog for sure.
Valerie, hope your daughter approves of my photos since she suggested I go!
JM. great new photo. Is that you? We never know around here.
KM, Who are you now? I had just gotten used to talking to HB!
Tash, the last of my photos. There are only 3 since I am the only one in the family taking photos apparently. I get so sick of looking at myself. I am coming back from Paris with something I'm not IN!
Peter,
Tick, tock, tick, tock..... can't wait!

Those photos are wonderful, VJ! I especially like the first one. Like you, I probably would have taken dozens of photos of her alone. Looks like you had a fun day!
The woman's glasses are spectacular as is the photo. A colourful altar, too.
Bless you and congratulations, Virginia. This photo and your model are indeed show-stoppers.
13 days!!!!!
Now you know I got all chummy with her and found out her glasses came from the Dolllar Tree years ago! For my French amies, that might be the Euro Tree! :)
Your photo are very beautiful!!Thanks
What a strange glamour has this portrait!!
