I discovered these three beautifully carved crosses at the Plant Odyssey on 6th Avenue South on Birmingham's Lakeview District. Libby has owned this nursery for many years and has a loyal following. You can't miss the shop. With it's quirky pointed roof, it looks more like something out of Hansel and Gretel. We'll come back another day and you can meet Augustus. You're going to love him!

Augustus seems to be working in a really neat house. What a wall!
Happy Easter Virginia!
I like the stone wall very much, the carved are nicely carved !
These are truly lovely, so intricate. And the wall! If you take just one stone out...
magique la première photo, la croix principal ressort très bien, superbe travail.
magic the first photo, the main cross is very good, great job.
And I do like the stone wall of this gable too!
Virginia, do the bells bring chocolate eggs from Rome to the kids in USA, or is it a bunny? I think it's the bunny...
Lovely shot.
Happy Good Friday my Alabama friend.
Two gorgeous compositions on the same post! Wonderful textures on both. Great work, V.!
Virginia, these crosses are perfect for today! Very moving actually. I so admire your skills and talent with your camera. I must find this shop.
Guess who has posted her first ever digital attempts? I have so much to learn.
Nice photos as always. I think the city of Birmingham should hire you next time they need updated website photos for the offical city website.
Have a great day.
You mean, Augustus actually lets you come inside? Isn't he worried? (Tell him about our biz plan.)
Therese and AH, Uh, Augustus is not an employee, in fact he's got FEATHERS!
James, Sadly the city of B'ham can't afford to hire me or anybody else, but I appreciate your nice comment!
Kathleen, Same to you my friend!
Alice, We get our candy from a rabbit. Go figure!

Hansel and Gretel
Have you already heard that the most beautiful illustrations of the Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm were done in Marburg?
The two brothers were educated at the University of Marburg. It was the inspiration of Friedrich von Savigny, there, who awakened in them an interest in the past.

I know thats not the point of daily photo blogging, otherwise it would be Birmingham Header Photo blog! Anyway, thats it. Can you tell I've been to the pub tonight?! Lol :)
