MR Chair

I feature the Birmingham Museum of Arts' Vanguard Views exhibit here.  Today we return with a look at a chair I'm sure you recognize.  This classic  Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, 1926, is part of the museum's permanent collection.  I would love one of these in my home!

Yes a very nice chair. Did you know that Mart Stam is the designer of the first cantilever, steel tube chair. A sketch of this he made on November 22, 1926 at dinner in the hotel Stuttgarter Marquart with blue ink on the back of the marriage annonce painter Willy Baumeister, in the presence of, among others, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. This announcement should now be in the Mies van der Rohe Archive of the MoMA in New York. The chair was first put into production in 1927 by the German company Lorenz.

Hmm. Not complete harmony with your decoration style but still very cool design. I like the over-the-back view.

Mies said that less is more. Most of America disagrees.
