Empties

Back in the day, we all took reusing very seriously.  I can still remember the sound of the milk bottles clanging in the milkman's wire basket when he replaced our empties with full bottles.

Thank you Becky Denny for opening your warehouse of nostalgia to all of us yesterday!

Nice trip to memory lane here. Thanks Virginia.

My dad worked as a milkman for a time, long before I was born.

Looks like that spammer's really been making the rounds. He hit my page today, and I've seen several other places lately.

I just love that. In fact, it's rather haunting. There must have been milkmen in my area when I was very young but but my earliest memory is vending machines for quarts in waxed cardboard, located in the lobbies of apartment buildings.
