A nest of some sort? What is that in it, or is that the mystery?

I think the top part is just twigs for the birds to use to make their nests. Not sure about the hangy-down thing.
No idea at all...
I'm gonna go out on a bamboo stick here and suggest the bottom part is some sort of arbor like thing for the vines to grow up and keep the veges off the ground and the straw and hanging thing is something that might help in slowly watering the vine below during our long dry season, which hasn't come yet, but is sure to be here soon. How's that for a run on sentence?
